I didn't see this article posted any where. It's basically about DW commenting on Havlats injury in detail so here's an article from tsn: http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/teams/story/?i...ame=nhl-sharks

I found what he had to say about Burns at the bottom very true yet funny when he said he doesn't know what he's doing on forward lol.

Did that sound like DW plans on putting him back on D?

Yeah a little. I wouldn't mind seeing that again even though he worked so well on forward. If we could pick up a legit top 6 forward and or MAYBE trade one of our young d-men like Demers or Braun, I wouldn't mind seeing how he does back there again has kind of a trial you know what I mean?

I wonder if maybe DW saw something in the black aces that made him feel like he might have someone else to put into the forward lineup alongside Hertl so that he could move Burns back to D. Although that's a major glut of defensemen so I don't really know. I love speculation, it's fun.

I love Wilson's comment on Burns being hard to defend against: he doesn't know what he is going to do, so how could they?

If Burns moves back to D, a Demers trade seems inevitable.

Vlasic - Burns
Stuart - Boyle
Irwin - Braun
Tennyson

Pretty great Defensive core. Maybe Chicago winning reemphasized to DW how important puck movement on the back end is.

That's honestly the #1 reason I was rooting for Chicago. They play the game like I want every team to play the game. Speed, skill, puck-movement over size and grit.

Anything to keep Demers off the ice, apparently... they'll match his offer sheet just so they can stash him on the bench.

It's ok, let's just go into the season with 0 top 9 RWs!

Bilateral pelvic floor reconstruction is the procedure that Havlat went through. I really doubt that will keep him out the entire regular season but I don't see him coming back before Christmas.

So it's all but confirmed that Bieksa's stick of integrity caused the injury.

I know Havlat said it wasn't the stick of integrity that caused his injury, but I doubt that. I am pretty sure it's the cause.

Confirmation of what many of us have assumed about Havlat.

Kevin Kurz ‏@KKurzCSN 13m
Doug Wilson says assumption that Havlat will begin season on long term injured reserve is "probably not a wrong one." #SJSharks

Havlat is a $5M cap hit, although LTIR does not technically give a team more cap space, as Havlat still counts.

The team is just permitted to go over the cap by the amount of the player's cap hit.

Just out of curiosity, can someone please explain to me why injured players cannot be bought out? I just want to understand that rule better. And yes I'm also annoyed that Havlat is practically made of glass and his injuries are really making it hard for DW to make us better right now and even when he's healthy he hasn't done much at all.

It's a good question. I always assumed it was just because the league (and PA) doesn't want to see players get dumped any time they sustain a long-term injury.

But what does that have to do with it? NHL contracts are guaranteed. The player still gets his money, right?

Moving sucks, man. You get the money but you have to buy/rent another house, your kids have to go to a new school, your wife has to get a new job. It becomes a slippery slope. Players should avoid getting injured in fears of getting traded? They shouldn't give their 100%? Avoid getting hit? Not block shots? etc

I saw him get interviewed during the draft. He said that he is doing better but is still having eye issues. He did not go into details but guessing it was concussion related.
