Devils re-sign Mattias Tedenby

Renaud Lavoie ‏@RenLavoieRDS 2m
Mattias Tedenby signed a one year contract with Devils. $600 000. One way.

when he was given a chance to play with real NHL players consistently he produced at a ~30 point pace as a 20 year old rookie, under Jacques Lemaire.

but now he isn't an NHL player anymore? I Find that hard to believe.

he just needs a consistent chance.

He's just too small and soft. Better suited to play overseas.

There are chances of him breaking out. Unlikely, but he could end up doing well.

I remember thinking this guy and Bergfors were locks to run the Devils' offense for the next decade. Whoops.

It's an easy mistake to make when Devils fans on this board hyped them up the way they did I never saw much in any of the Devils' Swedish forward propsects (Tedenby, Josefson, Bergfors). Larsson and Urbom are more intriguing but neither have really done much of note at the NHL level so far.

Josefson will be a solid 3rd liner if anything. he is already defensively responsible.

Not a terrible deal for the cap involved though.

hes played 105 games. its too early to call him a bust.

I am not saying he will light the world on fire at all. but I just want to see him be given a fair chance and not be benched after one or two games.

One last chance.

It certainly looks like the NA game just isn't suited for him. More open ice to work with in Europe.

Tedenby has been up and down but Bergfors was 2nd among rookies in points when he was traded for Kovalchuk, behind Tavares IIRC. End up recording 44 points as a rookie between NJ and ATL. Then had 30 points in 55 games or something with Atlanta before flopping in Florida and Nashville. Not my problem they screwed the pooch with him.

Well actually Tedenby was my own fault, I watched him at the WJCs and was convinced he'd be a stud.

If Tedenby can consistently play with skilled NHL talent and not 4th line scrubs then he might be able to do some damage. He also cant be benched for every little mistake.

The other Devils fans in this thread are crazy. Tedenbust is terrible and Josefson will never be a solid third line center. He's always injured and when he's healthy, you need a third line center who can score more than 1 point in 30 games.

As long as that ice time is on a bigger rink, sure.
