Technically can't officially be done until the end of the Cup Finals, right?

It doesnt officially start until 2 days after the cup finals....then goes into early July. teams can still announce it. It isnt official until then. Part of the reason to anounce it now is for team functions locally in conjunction with the draft....like players making public appearances on Sat/Sun of the draft.

He'd be a good fit with Derrick Brassard and Ryane Clowe in NY!

Danny Briere WILL Be Bought Out

Frank Seravalli ‏@DNFlyers 17m
Flyers issue statement confirming they will use a compliance buyout on Briere, as reported earlier in the week.

I don't understand why St. Louis wouldn't just flip a late draft pick to the Flyers for him instead. The cap hit doesn't matter at this point to the blues and they need a center. His remaining amount due should not be an issue.

Danny B has that pesky NMC in his contract, he probably wants to pick his destination and get paid even more in the process. Can't blame him really.

The compliance buyout is a convenient way around a NMC I guess then. Although, you would think logically that a player with a NMC should probably not be able to be bought out. From player's point of view, I guess it just means they get more money.

He would cost 6.5 million on the cap for the next 2 years. I think St-Louis should sign their RFAs first before attempting this and he has a NMC.

He was a -7 (in 11 GP) and a -6 (in 11 GP) in the last two playoffs. What's really amazing is that he had 12 ES goals in those 22 GP. So when he was on the ice, the other team scored 25 ES goals.

You realize ST Louis would then have to take on $6.5M cap hit for the next 2 seasons ?????

As of now they have about $21M to spend on their 4 high profile RFAs....so use $6.5 of that space on Brierre---brilliant.

Odds are Briere's linemates also scored, so he probably got scored on a lot more.

Probably only adds maybe 5 or 6 GA in those two years. Most of his linemates didn't do much ES scoring.

Four years, $16 million and he'll be happy to come to NY.

For those asking - no, don't expect #SJSharks to pursue Briere. I know Danny fairly well, and believe suggestions he wants to stay East.

Dallas seems to be pretty aggressive... I wonder if he'd go there to be reunited with Lindy Ruff?
