Crimson Skorpion - Independent Wrestler (In Training)

As some may know, I used to train in nCw (http://ncw.qc.ca/) about three years ago. After a few classes, I had to stop due to Mrs. CS' pregnancy and it being a high risk one. For the next 40 weeks, I took care of her and put my wrestling dreams on the shelf... until now.

As of July 4th, 2013, I will be returning to nCw to train.

For those who don't know what nCw is, it is one of the top indy promotions in Canada. They've been around since 1986 and they moved to Montreal in '96, after spending the first ten years in Joliette, Québec.

Ex-WWE Superstar Sylvain Grenier wrestled there before making it to the WWE. He was around in 2002 before going to the WWE full time in 2003 (No Way Out). Since then, they've had their fair share of special guests from WWE, TNA and ROH.

For more info, check the wiki page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norther...ship_Wrestling

The purpose of this thread? I thought it would be cool to give everyone who is interested in wrestling a first hand experience of what it's like to go through all of the training, grunt work and rise from the bottom to actually wrestling matches in front of crowds. It also serves as inspiration to anyone who has ever thought about doing it themselves. I'm 25, turning 26 in October and I can tell you that it's never too late to start.

So starting in July, I will be training every second Friday -- twice a month -- and will likely be working as security, concession stand guy, technical support during the shows on Saturdays during the actual show. Once September rolls around, I'll be training EVERY Friday, as the Fridays we originally had off will start up again, at a different location. Those classes will take place only on Fridays where there is no show on the Saturday of that week. I will make a post talking about what my experience was like that day, what I learned, what I ****ed up and what I excelled at. I'll also be posting pictures and (hopefully) videos of my classes.

If you'd like, follow this thread and join me on this ride. I hope to do myself, my family and all of you proud. I'm nervous, excited and freaked out all at the same time.

I told him to make this thread. He and I will do tours all around Canada!

I also take some credit for inspiring CS again.

I hope he's prepared for some ring-rust. Jericho didn't exactly give a lovely description of his first bump after his break from wrestling .

I've been taking bumps in the park, on beds of grass. It's the closest thing to a wrestling mat and is suggested by trainers, usually to keep yourself in tune during the week. It did take a few attempts to start feeling right though. After the first couple, my head was swimming.

EDIT: And yes, big props to CPrice for getting me inspired to go for it again. His dedication and passion really brought it out in me and that, coupled with Mrs. CS poking me to contact my old trainer, got me back into this.

Sound interesting. I seriously contemplated doing wrestling around the end of high school. If I had followed through I would have been in the same class as Tyson Kidd at the Hart Family Dungeon.

Keep us posted

One day, you and I will be in a 60 minute ironman match...which will then require an extra 60 minutes to break the tie.

Thanks everyone. I'll definitely keep you all in mind and once I get to work in-ring matches (could take anywhere between 5-12 months of extensive training), look out for some mentions thrown out here and there.

It was my pleasure, man. I was so grateful when others helped me, so whenever I have the chance to pass that on to someone else, I do it in a heart-beat. Kind of why I wanted to start this thread; to give others a view from the inside and gain some knowledge of how things work when you want to step into this lifestyle.

Are you champ yet? You started this yesterday.

In seriousness, read almost every wrestling book on the market, CS. They'll give you some great tips.

And remember, showmanship is just as important (if not, more important) than in-ring.

You're born with showmanship. You can't teach that, it has to come naturally. Wrestling ability, on the other hand, can be taught.
