they need someone who can play with J. Staal...skinner is the wrong style. Thats why they had to move him to the third line

Heatley is classified as an injured player, can't buy him out...

I'd do Falk for McBain.

EDIT: echlfreak I thought you were a Canes fan?

Why in the world would Carolina trade Ward without a viable replacement?

Based on his thread on the same cockamamie trade he thinks the Canes can sign Backstrom in free agency.

We speculate Ryan Murphy is ready, makes McBain the odd man out for PMD RH.

Where were you when I suggested Skinner+5th for Yakupov+7th?

I am from Minny and the this is a terrible trade for the Canes. While yes it's much better for the canes without ward in the deal like the other guy said it would still need to be tweaked. Maybe for this trade to work you would also need to add Clutterbuck from Minnesota's side plus maybe even more or make that 3rd a 2nd but then I think Minnesota wouldn't do it. I mean we rally don;t need a goalie that bad I mean yeah we might but Ward would probably be a long term solution for a team and we aren't looking for long term.

No. McBain is primarily a right shot offensive minded d-man who has significantly improved the work in his own end. Good all around second pairing.

That is pretty much why McBain is easily the most movable as he is also the most replaceable with a younger (and even cheaper) prospect who is ready to make the leap.

Also, this is why I think it makes sense for GMCF to target him with a player like Clutterbuck.

Clutterbuck is replaceable for the Wild. We need a better second pairing option for the right side.

I don't even care that the kid is from Minnesota and I don't care that I know his dad...

So you guys get a still injured Heatley that can't be bought out who's slow as molasses and doesn't backcheck, a career AHL d-man, and a 3rd rd pick while we get a top 10 starter in the league and a very capable puck-moving d-man? Did you even think before making this proposal?

As his user name suggests, I think he should stick with the ECHL.

Curious what Canes fans would think about Clutterbuck for McBain, per Bozak's thinking.

You'd be hard pressed to find a Canes fan who didn't like it
