Byfuglien is a little bit more valuable than Gagner. Edmonton has to add.
That's fine and dandy if you feel that, but Gagner has more value to Edmonton than Buff does. Oil fans are sweating enough already imagining how we're going to land a 3rd line, a 4th line center, an extra forward, a 2nd pairing stay at home d-man, a third pairing PMD and a backup goalie; the last thing we need to do is make a move that makes the list longer or more difficult.
Brace yourself "you clearly dont watch Buf play" or "those stats are irrelevant" posts are coming
I am against the trade as well, but I wouldn't use oilerbear's cherry picked stats either. I've seen the guy make a case for Horcoff, etc. At the end of the day, advanced stats work against themselves. I'll just go by viewing the player(s), and while I'm happy with Gagner as our 2C and feel he's a much better fit with Eakins than BIG Buff would be due to conditioning, you can't deny that Buff is the more valuable player. Defensive flaws? Sure, but the dude is massive, has a cup ring, a bomb from the point and excellent offensive production.
If Gagner was on another team, would you trade J Schultz for him? I wouldn't think so. Buff should be regarded in the same sense, albeit a different player.
No way I trade a 50-60pt DMan for Gagner...and I like Gagner. However he doesn't really fill a need o be completely honest with you. Soon Scheifele will be our second line C...no need for Gagner.
If Im trading Buff, I would be lookin for Eberle in return.
It's ok, Oil Fans, I have my flame retardant suit on. Have at her.
By your own admission you know it's not a realistic request. No need for flaming, simply not happening. Better to simply focus on the fact Buff wouldn't fit with our new coach and call her a day.
I also like the Jets and think they should keep Buff and continue to build that big and tough D corps. If they draft Zadorov, that would be ridiculous to have Buff, Bogo, Trouba, Stuart and Zadorov on the same back end. Toby would be the only little guy.
do you know how many centers were
top 20 centres in
2. PP point production
3. PK GA
The answer is 2
No one else covers it all.
Points. PP. PK. Blocks, Hits, Pocession steals.
just Getzlaf and Gagner.
i will pass on the fat Dman!
I know Jets fans bring it up a lot but it beats repeating...since Byfuglien has played defence in the league he is second in defensive goal scoring (behind Weber ) and second in points ( behind Karlsson)
Byfuglien is an elite offensive player, and underrated around here defensively. I'm not saying he's fantastic or anything, but he's better than people give him credit for. He's a unique talent in the NHL and you don't trade him for guys like Gagner.
