As I said in the other thread I'd take him on league minimum. Guy is already getting paid so who knows. As an offensive threat/powerplay specialist it he might be a decent stopgap for a year.

Still no on Briere. His defense is a nightmare and he only plays one position that we are already stocked with.

What should the Kings do with another center? Meh.

No thanks.

I want Couturier for Bernier from Philly, nothing else.
Couturier could become something really special, shutting down Malkin in the playoff as a rookie isn't an easy feat, and he's got soft hands too.

The Kings aren't really in a position to say that. It's probably going to be something else.

Briere is going to stay close to Philly. It's a big deal with his kids and all. NJ, NYI, Was, NYR.

No to Briere! His defence is terrible and he takes a lot of dumb penalties. Everyone raves about how clutch he is in the playoffs but he also gives up a lot of goals because of his awful defense.

The Kings are not getting Courturier for Bernier. No chance Philly does this. No idea why it keeps getting brought up.

IF we get Couturier I think stoll get moved.
Bernier + Stoll
For
Couts + Read

I want it all!

I don't think there is anyway we get him either. First I saw of it was on lakinsider.com

If that happens I will freak the heck out. Would be just amazing to have that type of future talent on the team.

The funny thing is that it would take our moving additional player or players to make a deal that brought back Couterier work imo.

It would more likely be JB/Vey for Couts and Read but even then I don't see Philly moving Couts.

Couturier would be nice, but I doubt it would happen for Bernier. I think we could get Laughton for him though, who sounds like he's almost on par with Couts...

I think if we bring in Couts we would have to move stoll to fit under the cap.

Why are we talking about Courterier? That's a complete pipe dream unless we added significantly (ie, not Jarret Stoll).

more importantly we are talking about PHI. we are talking about Homer and Ed, both of which haven't made any sense involving trades for quite some time. not saying it will happen, but they seem to surprise the 'experts' on a regular basis

I highly doubt even the tag team champs of bad trades Homer and Snider would trade a young, high ceiling center like Courterier for a player like Bernier. I just don't see that depth of stupidity. Maybe in a couple years but not now.

I still don't see the stupidity of this. Flyers trade their young, unproven, high potential offensive player for the Kings' young, unproven, high potential goalie. What is so crazy about that? Just because Bernier is a goalie? Flyers have a plethora of offensive talent and they are severely lacking in goaltending.

The Flyers have lost for 35 years because of their horrible goaltending. They finally have a chance to stop that and correct their mistake with Bob with Bernier who is ready to step up to the next level as a starter, and they would turn it down because Couturier could become awesome some day? And what if he does? They aren't going anywhere with that **** on defense and goaltending, just like always.

I think it would take more than Bernier to get Couts.

It's exactly because he's a goalie. It's all or nothing.

You can't hide a goalie if he's having a bad game. You can't move him up or down a line. You can't ask him to play a checking game if the offense isn't there. A goalie is either on the ice, or on the bench.

Goal can be a fickle position. Everyone thinks Bernier is ready to step up as a starter in the NHL, but it hasn't been proven yet. You have to be right about the guy that's your #1 goalie, and it's not easy giving up an unproven guy drafted 2 years ago, for an unproven guy drafted 7 years ago.

Sharks re-signed Torres. Time to get everyone spaceballs or Jofa helmets and full cages.

Love their GMs reaction, compared him to Marchment like it was a good thing

And yet it's, in my opinion, the most important position. Yeah it could turn out bad but the alternative is continuing to play with the same awfulness in goal. Chances like this don't come around often. How often do you get a chance to get a young goalie with great potential? Once a goalie becomes a stud, he's not going anywhere. The flyers can draft and develop another Couturier. It's their strength. This is finally their chance to get an actual talented goaltender and people think they should hold up because of one offensive player?

I don't care what the standard for goalie trades is. The standard for the flyers has been lose every year cause our goalie sucks. If I'm the flyers and Lombardi tells me it's couturier or nothing, I make the deal. They can replace couturier. They've proven they can't draft a goalie. Take the shot for once.

Absolutely. The good goalie is almost so invaluable that it's tough to make a deal. Because it's all or nothing, on the ice or on the bench, it's the most important, but maybe the most unpredictable position at the same time. You look around the league, and most teams are going with guys they've drafted and developed themselves. Free agents and trades, probably fewer success stories in those areas. Obviously Bobrovsky is a big win of a trade, but predict he wins the Vezina back in January, and everyone is calling you insane. Bernier could do that, or he could be Lindback from this year. It can be a crazy position.

Rumors and names are just that, rumors and names. If the Kings can get Couturier for Bernier, I'm not going to complain. I'm expecting less than that though.
