What I do not understand is why uproot your family when you were just traded in the last year of your contract with no guarantee of re-signing during a shortened season.
Family should have just stayed back in Dallas till he got a new deal.

Yup deal is not looking bad. Especially since Penner showed up in the playoffs. I thought teams had till Friday to qualify players.
have they announced they do not intend to?

True, true, and true... Just seemed like there wasn't enough info in the tweet to really get upset about (i.e. why she was pissed), but I agree that twitter is not the place for that sort of thing, no matter who you are.

They can salvage it if Klefbom keeps developing, but as Teubert was the centerpiece...blecch. Blecch on the pick, blecch as an asset, blecch at the trade.

This is one of those moments where the lightswitch either goes on, Teubert figures out his ****, on goes on to salvage a decent career, or the lightswitch goes off and he gives up on hockey.

When you factor in who was taken after him, Teubert will go down as one of the worst picks in recent memory, not only for the Kings, but for the entire NHL.

I said this three years ago on this board, the writing was on the wall when he was sent to the ECHL, the second a former first rounder (non goalie) steps foot in the ECHL, teams have essentially given up and those players and very very rarely ever become anything more than career minor league guys.

I assume it took the Kings only one rookie camp and training camp to see he was never going to be an NHL'er and that is why he was twice sent to Ontario rather than Manchester.

I believe Teubert was a first overall pick in the WHL Bantam Draft, this is another example of a player who peaked between ages 15-17 and the scouts could never figure out he wasn't going to make the normal strides most players do. Same thing happened with Angelo Esposito.

Just be thankful Dean found the village idiot Tambellini to trade an asset for Teubert. Still can't believe Tambo wasn't aware Teubert was a healthy scratch in the AHL before making that trade.

A thought: Liked working with Galiardi and welcomed his candor, but maybe #SJSharks didn't appreciate his verbal shots at Quick in playoffs.

Anybody remember that? I can't.

I thought so too. I don't think that would really get him traded him though. Unless it was his whole attitude that the Sharks didn't like. Or it just could have been for cap reasons since they traded for Kennedy...not really sure.

Wow all that money and term for letang. Glad Pittsburgh is stupid. 7.25 for 8 years for a terrible defenseman.

Yup exactly this, which caused Doughty to take a few verbal shots back at him.

Teubert played 20 games for the Oilers, a team with one of the worst d-cores in history that was tanking for a higher draft pick. He would not have seen the NHL on any other team.

Beach and Teubert were taken in the same draft, both are extreme long shots to ever see the NHL again. The Kings drafted him over the best offensive d-man in the NHL in Karlsson, Gardiner, Del Zotto, Sbisa, Carlson.

They were both horrendous picks, come on man, the Kings knew it right away, that's why he was sent to Ontario.

Around these parts offensive numbers for D are more valuable than actual D. The reason on the main boards Doughty gets roasted regularly.

It's sad really. He's good offensivelyand crap defensively. I'm glad that his new contract sort of ties down Pittsburghs future moves.

I think Letang is overpaid, but it seems people on this board don't value offensive defenseman nearly enough (maybe to make up for how overrated they are on the main board)

I've seen people in this thread now call Letang, Karlsson and Subban bad defenseman, sorry but that is utterly ridiculous.

I thought for next year our 48M to 10 players looked tight. Pitt now has 49M to 8 players. They better hope that Bowman's right and the cap goes to 75M. Even then that could look tight. But say it's 70M like last year. That's 21M for 15 players or 1.4M each.
Looked at Salary not cap.
So it's 45M with 8 players. That's 25M for 15 or 1.67M each.

it might be hyperbole, but their defensive deficiencies don't make up for their offensive acumen. Exhibit A is Letang spinning in circles in his own end looking for who to cover while Boston blows them out. Exhibit B is Karlsson doing essntially nothing pointswise in their exits (admittedly hurt this year). Subban may be balanced better than both of them, but that's not much of a compliment. These guys are are essentially a waste of space when they're not putting up points. They're just kind of there.

Now i agree with you--how dynamic would this team be with a Letang rushing the puck--offensive defensemen may be underrated by this board. But Doughty gets it. I think it's clear how much he values D just as much as O. And guys like Doughty, Keith, and even Weber now aren't getting the respect they deserve, imho, because "OMG BIG NUMBERS". And I think Subban getting the Norris over Suter illustrates how stupidly gaga people are over that.

Edit: oops, i take back what I said about Karlsson's playoff numbers. He actually did well, 8pts in 10 this year.
