Stars re-sign Colton Sceviour (1 year, 2-way)

The Dallas Stars announced today that the team has signed forward Travis Morin to a two year, two-way contract and forward Colton Sceviour to a one year, two-way contract.

Sceviour, 24, has played two career NHL games, and earned his first NHL point (assist) on Jan. 26, 2013 against the St. Louis Blues. The 6-foot, 196-pound forward from Red Deer Alta., led the Texas Stars in scoring with 52 points this past season (21G-31A) and also paced the club with a plus-21 rating in 62 regular season contests. Sceviour posted four points (1G-3A) and a plus-1 rating in nine Calder Cup Playoff games this past season. Sceviour was Dallas' fourth-round selection (112th overall) in the 2007 NHL Draft.

Surprised he stuck with us, honestly.

Hope he gets a legit shot next season.

I like Colton, but I just don't think he's got an NHL future with Dallas. He's a great two-way player with a good hockey head though.

Hope he gets a decent shot at the 4th line - seems like a great utility guy

Im very sad he hasn't gotten a chance to stick with the big club yet. Hopefully this is the year.

At the very least, he's a nice injury call up if needed.

Maybe the new regime will finally give him a chance. There's nothing left to do in the AHL.

Per Cap Geek:

Get's a raise in the AHL to $105K (previously $85K), and he gets a bump in the NHL to $600K ($525K the last 2 contracts).
