it has nothing to do with "what was perry doing when he was 17?"

the case is more the fact that crosby IS doing it at 17 and not 20

perry has come around, and will probably be a good player in the nhl, but crosby has had the "phenom" tag for years now and probably still to come

and this is coming from a guy who hates crosbys guts

you people need to look beyond good OHL seasons and realize that its a different story in the NHL

so perry had a 130+ pt season, so what?
since this is the leafs forum, ill use a local example
DAVID LING
the guy had a 135pt season in the OHL in '95.....and has since turned into a career 8 pointer in the NHL

so with that said, you cant make any predictions based on perry's stallar year, since that can all change verrrry soon

Yes Perry gets abused, but not nearly the same as crosby. We can wonder now who is the better player between the two, personally I couldn't chose, and I'm a huge Knights fan, Perry has come a long way since Hunter took over, and Nash left the team for the NHL. I say give them atleast five more years, and we can be sure who is the better player. Right now I wouldn't mind having either of them on my team.

I wouldn't mind having either one as well. I didn't realize how talented Perry really was. I always knew he was a great leader, but kid's also got some mad skills.
I was really impressed with his shot; passes; moves; discipline; and poise.

It will be real interesting to follow these guys when they make their jump to the NHL. They will play many games against each other. Their names will often be mentioned in the same breath particularly during awards nominations; scoring titles; new records?

And best of all, meeting each other in the Stanley Cup Finals.

I would say, these guys are the start to the new generation with the last generation being Gretzky and company.

Hey Leafs, can we also have someone special to start the new generation?
Last generation you didn't give us much, so how about making it that much more special this time around? Thanx in Advance!

Since it is usual to exaggerate size, I've heard some say Wellwood is like 5'8", not the 5'10" reported, how big is Crosby?

Yes he does but he doesn't play on a one line team, if Perry doesn't score the Knights can win, if Crosby doesn't the Oceanic cannot.

what does that have to do with abuse?

besides, thats why gretzky had guys like mcsourley on his line, cuz he DID get abused when opponents had the chance.

and theres no way you can say the Q is a defense 1st league

I must say, I've been rather impressed with Crosby's attitude. He is well-spoken, confident, and respectful.

It's think it's safe to say that both have played their last games at the junior level.

With an announcement, that appears imminent, to end the cold-war, we can soon see these two spectacular youngsters join their new teams.

Then we'll really get to see what these guys mean to their respective teams.

The difference between Perry and Crosby is monumental. If Perry improves his skating and can keep up in the NHL he will top out at a Jason Allison type player. Crosby on the otherhand is a phenom.

It's not even close, no GM in the league would consider taking Perry over Crosby. It's silly.

Same as no one in the right mind would take Daigle over Pronger, Kariya, Bertuzzi, Koivu, ...

Or Chirs Gratton before Kariya, Bertuzzi, Koivu, Arnott, ...

Crosby has to get tougher, or change his game.

Lots of people thought Pronger was better than Daigle at the time. Same thing with Gratton vs. Kariya.

I doubt there are many GMs who think Perry is better than Crosby.

Question: If you were a GM would you trade Crosby straight-up for Perry?

And why do you think Crosby has to change his style? Dino Ciccarelli, Theo Fleury, and Doug Gilmour are little guys who had great careers and took a lot of physical abuse.

No I'd take Crosby in a heart beat.

Because they didn't play like they were big. Gilmour was dirty, Fleury was shifty, and Dino was good with his stick.

The fact that Perry's name is mentioned in the same breath as Crosby tells me that he is quickly becoming the most overrated player on these boards.

Unless Perry improves some disturbing deficiencies in his game he will never play a regular shift in the NHL.

Crosby is exactly 5'10" at his stretched out best.

On the tube for everyone to see.
