To San Jose:
Rights to Pierre Marc Bouchard

To Minnesota:
4th/5th

San Jose gets a chance to sign a playmaker that can't be worse than Havlat. He may even be able to replace Havlat if we trade him or buy him out.

Minnesota gets a pick for player's rights. I will be honest I'm not sure if they're planning on resigning him or not.

They can't buy out Havlat and Bouchard has missed a whopping one game less than Havlat the past two seasons.

Next season they could buy out Havlat if needed. I think Bouchard would cost much less too.

Possibly but you're not getting anything different or better with Bouchard that you don't already have with Havlat. Bouchard is a similar player albeit worse overall in skills but with the same injury risk. If you're going to go and get someone to replace Havlat, the point would be to find someone you can rely on to stay healthy. Bouchard is certainly not that guy.

He's injured almost as much as Havlat.

Honestly, I don't think re-signing Bouchard is in the cards for the Wild. His rights definitely doesn't hold much value due to injury history. This would probably be an overpayment by San Jose.

MIN: Conditional 7th (On PMB signing)

I rather just keep Havlat and go from there.

Pretty clear Havlat is a considerably worse teammate than PMB. Just ask anyone who has played with both. That being said Bouchard is worth signing it's just the Wild need to move on from him.

I asked them and they disagree.

Martin "bad teammate" Havlat is one of two teammates, along with Sharks Captain Joe Thornton, who was credited with the mid-season turnaround for TJ Galiardi, which took him from healthy scratch to first liner on a team that swept the Canucks and took the defending champs to 7 despite ridiculous luck and quick playing better than any other goalie in history.
