We won't be any stronger at forward or center if Desharnais suddenly disappears, he's a productive asset on any NHL roster and brings much needed depth at one of the most important positions. He's also just one player, whether a team contends or not has never depended on a single player.

Anyways, I find this thread absolutely hilarious. I really can't wait for Desharnais to hopefully have a great year next season and shut all you guys up. He's a good young player with a blossoming career that will bounce back.

Gionta doesn't receive even one quarter of the criticism Desharnais gets around here. Probably because the much maligned RDS does not talk about him much, and people here hate the guys RDS loves constantly. There are plenty of people here who love to put down french players because they are treated favorably because of their origins. Lets call them ''anti-pro-francos clique'', those who hate people with a language/origin bias (such as RDS) that they have a language/origin bias themselves. Gomez? It took a while for the hate to become widespread and besides, his own mom would have hated him had she been a Habs fan, it doesn't count.
1. Gionta has a defensive game and leadership. Even with that people want to trade him for a bigger winger. No bias there whatsoever:

2. There is no one here who didn't want to sign Vincent Lecavelier. You could say this board has become anti small, but not anti Franco. That being said, I can't stand the RDS bias favouring Franco players. I would hate the reverse bias as well though because no bias is a good bias when you just want to win a cup.

Sick of this Desharnais bashing

Have you guys realize, with his production in europe before the start of the season, he was on pace for a total of 55 points, which is 5 point less than his previous season? Who know, he could have got a great streak , and with a full season, he could have finish with a good streak to be on par or better with his previous ppg total.

Only in Montreal we hear when a player have a season that doesnt shine up as previous year we need to trade him right away. Him, Georges lets go...got one bad year...get out! Lets put him in all possible trade proposal!

So, are you part of the people who want him to go away?

Another thread? The thing is with him, if he doesn't score, he brings nothing else to the team. You can't win a Stanley Cup with a guy like this in your top 6.

So am I, especially the *****ing about his contract.

It's 3.5 million for a 50-60 point centre, reading these forums you'd swear it's worse than Scott Gomez's contract.

I really hope he has a good season just so every thread doesn't have to become the "Desharnais is a terrible midget" thread.

This post is so ironic since the username is "Last Chance Price".

Yeah, let's give the softest most worthless (most babied, too) player in our top 6 an infinite amount of excuses.

But our franchise goalie who had 1 bad month? LAST CHANCE, kid.

The bashing has become a bit over the top...one should try to admire his journey and support him, while at the same time be critical but fairly. His contract may be a bit long - don't really understand why Bergevin felt the need to give him 4 years but oh well.

Last chance for Price huh? But you're sick of the Desharnais bashing, when we have 2 young players behind him on the depth chart who are better.

Actually, after Cole was traded, his pace was 57 points.
Cole certainly did not help DD to produce last season.

Wow, a 60 point player on the worst team in the East. He was coddled when given massive PP time, preferential faceoff locations and two giants wingers. He's trash and no team looking to compete should have a 5'6 centre.

Everyone gets it except for Bergevin it seems. Can't believe all the PP time this guy got and Eller still outscored him.

If anyone thinks the Canadiens can be successful with Desharnais as the 1, 2 or even 3rd center in the playoffs is delusional. He is not built for the playoffs. Who cares if he even gets 50 points in the regular season. You don't win a Stanley cup with the type of player Desharnais is. Desharnais is the the first player I'd like to see shipped away.

Actually, Bergevin, Therrien and the whole coaching staff of the Habs.
Plus a lot of journalists.

This board is the only place bashing Bergevin.

the problem here isn't how skilled DD is, its if he can produce. Like someone said, if DD doesn't score, he can't be a bottom 6 player because he doesn't have the size. Almost every time DD is along the boards, he's been outmuscled by bigger forwards. At $3.5 mil for the next 4 years, that's alot of money for a guy who doesn't bring much to the team. We also have Alex Galchenyuk and Lars Eller waiting to get top 6 minutes and are better point producers.

Desharnais has multiple characteristics that are hated by the demographic of this board. The hate is 100% completely ridiculous and over the top but it's futile to go against it. People are just going to be ******** about it and you have to accept it.

I don't buy into ppl saying you can't win with DD being one our your top 3 centres (top9 model, not top 6 model team).
But there is no way this team goes anywhere with having all of DD, Briere, Gionta, Plekanec, Gallagher in their top 9.

He is a decent playe, but not a fit in Mtl.

Desharnais is fine

you guys are bored because we're in the middle of the summer

this player has heart and you win with players like that

and if we are not winning a stanley cup next year its not because we have desharnais in our top 6

playing galchenyuk and eller 5 minuts more every game wont give you the insane depth that is needed to win a cup

toews hossa kane sharp keith seabrook and still they were 1-3 at some points in the playoffs

we're just not there yet and we can make it a winning team with or without desharnais

gonna take some time

Holy ****.

This thread is like walking outside, seeing embers smoldering from a fire that died down and telling everyone around you that you are tired of the embers. In an effort to snuff out the embers, you pour a liquid on it.............gasoline.

20 pages minimum is my guess.

The top-9 approach gave us 2nd in the conference.
With three offensive lines, DD can play in this team.

This tam is built on abilities and has showed that it can come back.
I don't remember seeing that for many years.
I really like Galchenyuk, Eller and Gallagher and I want them to continue to progress.
But I leave it to the Habs coaching staff.
They did pretty well with our young players.

I agree with LastChancePrice. But then again it's not surprising for this board to go ******* over one player for absolutely no reason. Montreal fans get restless in the offseason.
