I moved the first post with recap to this thread.
Couldn't you also update the recap from #979?

If you mean "questionable" to Bjorkstrand so I have to say that Medvescak needs guys 1992 and younger.. so why not Bjorkstrand?

yep, they do. Only different among russian/non-russian club is that russian club has to skater RUSSIAN "young" players, non-russian club can skate whoever the non-russian club can (f.e. HC Lev Praha can skate finnish/swedish/canadian etc 1992ers, HC Lev had slovak - Cingel - as "young" player this season, so no problem for Medvescak to skate danish player)

Sooo.. Here I am, back to you, my dear fellow hockey-discussion friends. Not whole lot happened over the time of my leave (maybe aside from that Hartikainen signing which seemed stupid to me from both Hartikainen's and SY perspectives) but.. Here's one thing I have on my mind:

What are your expectations for AK Bars this season and doesn't it seem to you that East conference became somewhat, dear I say, weak with Ak Bars seemingly (in my opinion) slipping towards mediocrity, Traktor assembling an almost entirely new team, SY and Avangard not improving much after not-that-great seasons.. Magnitka is the only team which got legitimately better, at least on the paper sheet.

Meanwhile SKA and CSKA really got stronger and Dynamo stood path at very least.

Well, I'll be pragmatic as always and say that Dynamo will do a treble. Yeah they have made some more changes compared to last offseason, but if they get back Komarov, then they essentially are the same team ingredient-wise.

I really think Donbass will improve significantly now that they have a proper coach and I can see them going far if everything clicks for them. SKA will still be a real power at least in regular season. Lokomotiv and CSKA still looks underwhelming. The rest more or less doesn't matter as far as the title is concerned.

SoundAndFury already covered East.

if we r talking about play-off spots on west, everything is almost clear

SKA, CSKA, Dynamo Moscow, Lokomotiv, Donbass, Lev will be in play-off for sure
Atlant must be 7th team imo
and for last spot it will be really hard battle between Slovan, Riga, Minsk, Severstal', Medvescak, Vityaz and Spartak

on the east Magnitka, Salavat, Barys, Avangard, Ak Bars, Traktor, Torpedo will reach play-off
so it's only one spot is free too ... Sibir, Yugra, Neftekhimik ?

Nashville wants to loan S.Kostitsyn to KHL (they don't want to buy him out)
but according to rumors it can be Traktor (1 year loan + 2 more years), not Avangard

A Finnish national team forward who played in the recent World Championships and was the leading scorer in TPS Turku.

He is a big and quite fast winger with limited scoring potential and stone hands. But he is great at cycling the puck along the boards and can be used in a second line role in a team like Novokuznetsk.

Very interesting. Obviously financially beneficial to Nashville as they will save money on purely buying him out, although they will probably pay his full salary and the KHL team who he goes to will pay some money for a portion of the contract to Nashville to compensate. Both teams save money this way if that is what was worked out.

He's good. I'm really sorry to see him leave to NLA because he's definitely good enough to play in the middle-level KHL team (like Barys or Lokomotiv).

He's a stereotype of what you would expect from European forward: smart, good shot, good stickhandler and not much of a physical presence of any kind. I'm not going to go as far as saying he's a perimeter player and he's actually pretty hard to knock of the puck when it's on his stick but he won't be standing on the lip of the crease, that's for sure. He can skate but he won't be the fastest guy around. He's good with the puck but not really flashy.

Ellison is a really good and pretty complete player (physical game aside), in more than few ways he reminds me of Patrick Sharp, but basically he just lacked that one thing which would make him stand out from the others, that X-factor which makes smaller player succeed at the NHL level.

P.S. I will have to move your post to player's inquiry thread but will do that later because you would never be able to find it.

Hits now and then too but IMO with his size he should use his body even more.

Anyone know where Kamaev will land? He was released by Sherbrooke with intention to join a European team.
