Jagr Won't Be Back with Bruins

per Fluto Shinzawa
Quote:
Jagr will not return to Bruins.
I know financially, it would have been difficult, but I'm surprised it was this cut-and-dry. After hearing about his midnight hockey clinics and how they've helped players like Jakub Voracek, I still think a number of NHL teams will come calling for him, but Jagr may decide this was his last chance at the Cup and sign in the KHL.

Shocking news. Good luck with whoever he signs with next, sucks that us Bruins fans didn't get to see a salute and see him win a cup..

What a shocker. Jagr goes where the money is. Boston won't overpay for him. Jagr will find someone desperate enough.

Bring him to LI and throw him on the top line with JT. Have all our forwards go to his midnight clinics with him, especially Nino.

I liked him with the Flyers, let's see where he ends up if anywhere at all.

I don't think anybody expected him to be back with the Bruins.

I've respected Jagr his whole career, but this constant team to team stuff is getting to be a little much, right?

I'd say Edmonton, but with Hemsky on the outs, I doubt he'll come here.

I know right, you guys act like he's made over $100 million lifetime or something just playing hockey. I mean it's not like he's earned more money playing hockey than any other person in history. Oh wait...

Cool. Another thread for people who are reasonable enough to say that Jagr goes after money and therefore left tax-free Russia for the NHL.

I didn't think he would anyway. Not sure where he lands next year. I imagine he wants to stay in the top 6.

I didn't expect he'd go to Dallas last year, at his age with all that extra travel the Stars have had to do because of their alignment. Money talked though. Dallas wasn't even a contender either.

Who's got money and cap space to burn?

Clinics. Not antics.

Jagr is an absolute hockey machine and holds informal midnight workouts (After the 3 overtime game, Jagr was overheard in the dressing room asking the trainer for his weighted vest, so after playing the equivalent of almost two full games, Jagr was still going to workout after the game). While he played with the Flyers, Bruce Arthur said that Jakub Voracek was a frequent participant in Jagr's midnight workouts and a lot of Voracek's growth as a player this season is attributed to those training sessions with Jagr.

Personally, I'd love it if he went and signed with Lev Prague. For the last three seasons I've made quite the hobby of watching KHL games on weekend mornings and I think having him back there would be great for the league. Especially if he is playing in his home country this time.

I think we've been lucky to be able to see him play all these years, but the grind of the NHL is seemingly starting to take its toll on him. It's pretty clear that he wants to play for as long as he can and with Lev he will have more ice, less games, and the space to be creative instead of just being suffocated as a 42 year old in the NHL.

Anyway, just my opinion. Lev and Slovan play later in the mornings so I always seem to catch their streams. I admire the mans dedication to the game and hope he has a couple good years left.

New York would make sense. Callahan is out to start the season, opening up a spot on the top 6.

Jagr definitely had a profound impact on a lot of the younger Flyers forwards last season.

Voracek idolized Jagr growing up, and he flourished under the tutelage of Jagr.
