Nope. However, buyouts can't occur until the finals are done. I'm guessing that is holding up some deals

That seems like a steep price to pay for Bernier. I'm scared to see what we give up in our deals if we aren't dealing in a position of strength.

With the Flyers buyout and the Leafs/Kings trade, why would the Oilers wait until the cup final is over to release the trades? Sounds like a ton of BS is floating around on this board again...

Yup, I find this supposed need for secrecy from MacT to be ludicrous, especially if we're talking about 2nd tier players.

Yeah, makes me wonder a bit about these trades. If they're legit, why not announce them?

Unless it involves some roster players off of the teams in the finals. After all, we've heard our share of Gagner for Bolland, Hemsky for Lucic, etc etc.

Wasn't there a Kings fan last week saying Bernier was worth Yakupov and the 7th overall?

It's been mentioned before that MacT as a cup winner maybe wants to stay with the tradition the NHL has followed. Hate it if you want, but that's how things go.

I've said it before, NHL should've told GM's to go on with their business like there was no stanley cup finals being played.

I don't see much value in Frattin and Scrivens to consider that payment, "steep". A swap of backup goalies with an AHL tweener thrown in sounds about right. The 2nd is a little puzzling but I don't value draft picks as high as some people might.

The center of the universe media couldn't care less about what happens in EDM or OTT. And right now they're busy writing full page articles about Bernier, so they care even less.

I wouldn't call Frattin an AHL tweener proper system you got a 20G man,

Bernier is worth a second rd pick, Nonis got bent over

MacT didn't wait to announce the Eakins hire, so why would he wait to announce a couple of bottom 6 trades?

Exactly, but if it's Oilers/Sens trade there's no reason why it shouldn't be announced.

yep. That was my first response. Considering none of the usual suspects have suggested the oilers have any deals done, tells me that certain people are blowing smoke

None of the trades are announced because they don't exist. Rumoured negotiations don't mean a deal is on the table and waiting to be announced. Also, people seem to forget that deals can never be kept secret with Ottawa. Laughable.

There is no way Leafs keep both Bernier and Riemer on board.

I think Riemer now is trade bait, not sure I like it if he is the one coming to Edmonton after the MacT and Nonis talks

After the Toronto trade announcement I'm starting to think there's no deal between Ottawa and Edmonton or that the trades involve Boston or Chicago or that Edmonton is trading with Boston or like I said there has been no trades here.

I guess Bernier's not worth Kessel.

Huh. Go figure.
-----
Maybe MacT operates by a different code. Maybe he doesn't have anything set in stone. Maybe this is just a trade rumours and speculation forum. Maybe Nonis told MacT he was going to make his trades during the cup finals and MacT was admonishing him for breaking decorum and invited to fight Dean Lombardi in a caged barn.

Now that the Bernier trade has happened, why wait to announce the trades? I can see those teams getting better offers and screwing us over. The GM can phone around and say,"this team offered player x for player y. You need to do better than that". It just doesn't make much sense to me.

The lockout kind of skews things, not sure if he would've played a full season in TO or not last year. He's going to have his work cut out for him to make the Kings.

If Bernier becomes the Leafs starting goaltender for the next 10 years, this won't be a lopsided trade. Frattin and Scrivens are NOT going to be difference makers in LA, ever.

Safe to say that Toronto is now out of the Luongo sweepstakes.

Good show, Gillis.

Bernier for a 2nd, Frattin and Scrivens seems like a pretty high price.

If the Oilers did that deal I don't think I'd be onside... then again if it gives TO a solid duo of Reimer/Bernier in net that helps put them in the playoffs yet again... of course it will be worth it.

I'm glad that Scrivens went to LA and not to the Oilers though.... because I don't think he's very good. Wouldn't have been a good backup/co-starter for Dubnyk... plus if he plays net for the Kings, makes them weaker... good for the Oilers obviously as they are in their division now. So overall great deal.
