Strickland speculates Pietrangelo is hopeful for an offer sheet [mod]

According to Strickland, he wont accept less than 7/year, and is hopeful for an offer sheet. Not necessarily because he wants to move, but obviously because hed be getting paid by either the Blues or the team that signs him.

He also says Blues are interested in Couturier and that Petro negotiations arent going so well. Maybe a possible trade is in order if an offer sheet is signed and Blues are interested in what Flyers will give up...

Couturier, 11th overall, Coburn + ?

Mod Edit: Couturier was mentioned as a possibility by Strickland in a HALAK trade. The speculation regarding Pietrangelo wanting an offer sheet is also completely Strickland's own. There is nothing from Pietrangelo or his camp to support that speculation.

Read the article for yourself HERE.

If you don't think the Blues would match any offer thrown his way, you are a fool.

This is pretty much like PK Subban for me. Pay Pietrangelo the money and enjoy watching him for years to come, He is amazing. I seriously doubt the blues are lowballing him, thus this is probably a non issue.

Honestly, I wouldn't be mad at all if Nonis gave up 2 1sts, a 2nd and a 3rd for him. $7.5M per x 7 years

The number of times ''Holmgren'' or ''Homer'' will be typed in this thread will exceed 100.

If I'm St. Louis and he goes and gets an offer that returns 4 1st's or something of that I'll, I let him go. I know it'd hurt in the immediate, but as a Sabres fan, I remember the Vanek situation with Edmonton's offer sheet and would love to get those 4 1st's for him. Nit only bc of hindsight but that many picks gives a team endless options in terms of trades and you have $7M/yr in cap space to sign some other players.

I'm already disappointed. 10 posts and the name is only in what, 3 of them?

I would have exactly 0 problem with my Oilers signing him for an 8x8 deal. Petro may not be worth 8 now, but he almost certainly will be over those 8 years.

Blues will never let him go though. Still, could be a good way to see if they'd part with Bouw instead...

I actually highly doubt that. Agents say that stuff all the time.

He'll probably sign a 4 year 6 mill per contract in 5 days.

Why do people waste their time discussing offer sheets?

They're always matched because the players that are offer sheeted are TOO VALUABLE to the team that is matching.

Well it's Strickland and who wouldn't want an offer sheet for leverage...

Shhh but for Toronto he'd probably pay for free

This article seems like pure speculation on the part of Strickland. Notice how he starts his sentences "Word is...." and "You can bet that...." instead of something like "A source tells me..."

Bottom line is Blues will do everything they can to get him signed, and if it gets to the offer sheet stage they will match anything reasonable and probably anything unreasonable. I think it would have to be on the order of 9 mil a year + before Armstrong starts considering the compensation package.

Pietrangelo deserves to get paid and as a Blues fan I hope he does and soon. However he IMO does not at this point in his career merit a higher salary than Karlsson or Doughty. He may get a higher salary just because of how the Free Agent system works, but value wise i see him as a 6-7m D man currently
