Don't see why Washington would move either.

None of these offers are even in the right ballpark to get Washington to move these players.

I would give a lot from San Jose to get Mike Green. Doubt my fellow fans would agree.

Puts a hole on RW, but that can easily be addressed through FA.

Any offer without a 1C coming back should be disregarded completely.

Yes, because a team trading for Nicklas Backstrom will more than likely have a spare #1 center to send back.

If I'm trading to get Backstrom, it's to fill a need. If I have to fill a need, I don't have the asset to currently fill it, and therefore cannot send you back a #1C.

Shake Things up...

We need to shake things up. There's no denying the talent of Green and Backstrom but there are too many disappointing playoff experiences affecting the psyche of some of the stars with the Caps. Not to mention we sold the farm to get Martin Erat (Filip Forsberg), it's time to unload some of these damaged players for some fresh faces and new talent

For starters take a look at the many letang threads and that would be your indicator on mike green. Perhaps more since he's signed longer and a much better goal scorer.

Then backstrom while he's not considered a top 5 center in the game, he will be when trading for him. Sweet contract, upside and becoming quite a two way player.

I don't see how both can be moved in the same deal.

wait. erat and latta for Forsberg is selling the farm? dude. that's not even a big garden much less a farm.

I do agree that the caps playoff losing has likely damaged the core. that said, green is just not replaceable and with as much trouble as the caps have had getting a 2c you think replacing an allstar level 1c is going to happen?

these players are just not for sale

Throw in David Musil and it's a done deal.

The Caps would have been wise to deal Ribeiro before the deadline to get picks and prospects to go along with a core of OV, Backstrom, Green, Alzner, etc. and an up-and-coming group of Kuzy, Tom Wilson, Forsberg.

Instead, they chose to try to go for it in a desperation move that GMGM made because he knows his time is coming to an end soon if the Caps aren't in for a deep run within the next year or so, and had the same results as in years past.

This team just has too much haunting playoff history and some fresh faces might help to counter that

Malkin and Fleury.

I know, but I'd like to see Malkin and Ovechkin on the same team.
