Would love Clutterbuck. He's exactly the type of player we need. Get it done!

So is everyone sending Ryan Jones out to sea?

He's definitely not worth an upgrade of his last contract now, but if he took a sweetheart deal I wouldn't think twice about bringing him back - especially with Hartikainen leaving.

Paajarvi and Clutterbuck sounds like a good foundation for one helluva third line. For Pitlick? Done done done done done. We haven't had an effective wrecker in the bottom 6 in way too long.

Jones-Smith-Clutterbuck would be a really good third line IMO.

Certainly would like him on the squad, although I have not read into his situation which is why I didn't include him in my roster. If he plays for us this year then he would be great on our 3rd line, I always enjoyed watching him.

If we are shipping out Horcoff, it's rumoured that Detroit is looking to dump salary through means of trade + buyouts. I still think Tootoo would be a big upgrade on Brown, so ridding ourselves of Horcoff and upgrading our 4th line seems in theory a great idea.

I'd like to see more toughness on the LW than Jones TBH. If not then Smith is the only guy that will drop the gloves on the 3rd line.

that would be an ideal bottom 6 but i'm afraid our depth is too weak.

Ideal:
Hall-RNH-Yak
XXX-Gagner-Eberle
PRV-XXX-Clutterbuck
Jones-Smith-Brown

realistic:
Hall-RNH-Yak
PRV-Gagner-Eberle
Jones-XXX-Clutterbuck
XXX-Lander-Brown

I want Ryan Jones back, not an offensive black hole, energy player and can play good defensively

There's got to be a better 3C available than Smith. To me he's the perfect 4C.

I wonder if MPS becomes trade bait for an established 3C with no upward potential - some type of young Chris Kelly if that kind of guy is available.

Dave Bolland? I know he scored the SC winner but he may still be expendable with Shaw fitting that role perfectly and Bolland having no role to play in the top-6.

MPS for Bolland gives them a great big-bodied replacement for Stalberg as he leaves, with a bit more potential and better defensive play.

According to many fantasy lineups I saw when Pitlick was drafted he should be rolling onto our second line right about now. Next year at the latest.

You realize that Zach is a 30 point scorer right? That more than respectable 3rd line numbers. He is a capable and damn good third liner.

Peverley is calling out to us, and at a cheaper price than MPS one would assume.

What makes you think a third line needs multiple fighters to be successful?

If the Oilers were able to make those rumored deals, would they still consider bringing in a potential buyout candidate that they've coveted over the years?

Horcoff for Tootoo (give or take)
Hemsky for Z Smith + pick/prospect
Acquire Ryan Malone
-----------------------------------------
Hall/Nugent-Hopkins/Eberle
Malone/Gagner/Yakupov
Paajarvi/Z Smith/Clutterbuck
Jones/Smyth/Tootoo

Brown, Lander

Looks good to me.

No he isn't. His career high is 26. But to be fair his wingers that year consisted of Condra, Neil, Daugavins, etc.

He was used in a 3rd line role and still put up 25 points on a high-scoring Ottawa team powered by Erik Karlsson's Norris-winning season.

You're right though - it's better to give him the benefit of the doubt with more-talented wingers. You've got to be able to turn guys into role players rather than acquire them expensively when they're already in that role.

The price for Smith << Bolland.

Hello oilers fans, i hope you guys do not mind me posting here. But wasn't the hemsky-smith trade already shot down? I thought it has already been confirmed that the trade was actually just a rumor and that there have been no talks between the oilers and the sens for months.

I'd love to look at:

Frolik/Jones - Peverley - Clutterbuck
Lander/Eager - Smith - Tootoo

Tootoo doesn't come with a small cap hit though and to do all those moves and sign Clutterbuck would prevent us more making a major upgrade on defence.
