Who actually hated Hossa outside of Pitt in 09 and Detroit in 10?

Hossa is one of the players who never gets credit. he's better 2-way player than Toews for example.

Of players drafted between 1994-2000 (3 years before and 3 years after Hossa, including his own draft year), Hossa is 4th in career points behind Joe Thornton, Daniel Alfredsson and Jarome Iginla. He's also 2nd in career goals behind only Jarome Iginla.

Did I mention he's easily one of the best two way wingers in the game and unlike those other guys who have never won a Cup, now has two championship rings? He may remain perpetually underrated since he came of age in a very low scoring era in NHL history so he won't have the gaudy career numbers players of years past have had but he's been a very consistent player throughout his career. He should definitely make the Hall of Fame in my opinion.

Assuming he finishes out his career relatively healthy, I don't see how he doesn't make the HOF.

yeah, I think playing a pretty important role on a second Stanley Cup made Hossa a lock for the HHOF.

The HoF should be for players who either dominated the league in an extreme fashion for a short period of time, or who were consistantly a top5-10 player in the league throughout their career.

If we start inducting every player with a couple 40 goal seasons, the Hall loses it's meaning.

It's weird how a guy who isn't even PPG, and has won ZERO individual awards in the NHL is considered a HoF player, when Selanne was considered borderline even right after winning the Cup, when he at that point had 6 40+ goal seasons, a Calder, a Rocket Richard, and 10 All Star selections.

Sorry, but that's a bunch of ********. Anyone who considered Selanne borderline after his cup season needed their faces slapped off.

This describes Hossa. To illustrate that point, if he finishes out his career relatively healthy he'll probably finish well into the top 50 scorers of all time and have more Cups than a lot of them. I wouldn't be surprised if he ends his career with at least one more. The Hawks are sitting pretty with his and Keith's cap-circumvention contracts.

I'm a Wings fan, and one of the few who never boo him when he's at the Joe. Still one of my favorite players, I boo Holland for letting him go.

It was enjoyably ironic in 09, yes,but Hossa's journey is undeniably iconic in many ways. Good for him. Nothing but respect to the guy. OP is mistaken.

Agreed, as far as individual accomplishments go, that's a joke to put up.

2x40 goal scorer really? I guess that's him with the other thousand players who've done it?

Along with 1x100 point season and a single 2nd team all-star, it'd be a joke if Hossa made it the HHOF with his current resume.

That aside, great for the guy on another championship though.

Wasn't he also fairly invisible in playoffs? I'm too lazy to look up his stats.

Sundin got in on 1st ballot, so Hossa should as well if he keep producing.

I'm not arguing the fact that Hossa is very talented. But as his career stands right now, I would not consider him a Hall of Famer. That could change when all is said and done though.

With this second win he starts to separate himself from borderline to lock.
He might not have individual awards but his numbers good and I bet how many of you forget how good and dangerous sniper he was and still to an extent is. 2000-2010 2nd best goalscorer just behind Iginla. Throw in All-star team, Hart trophy worthy season in Atlanta...yes he is in. No first ballot for sure, even a waiter for few years, but in the end..yes.

Hossa is a great player and we should have kept him with Franzen, and not chose between them.

One of my favorite players in the league bar none. Congrats to him on another Cup and yes I think he's a shoo-in for the Hall of Fame.
