Has he been as bad as everyone is saying? Kids only 17 and will have 4 years to grow and mature his game. For a 4th round pick, he's pretty raw.

He's a 17 year old 4th rounder playing against mostly 19-21 year olds...not sure what you would expect from him at this point. This is likely the first time he's ever experienced a pro level shot.

http://www.westerncollegehockeyblog....ct-evan-cowley

This year, Evan Cowley, a goalie from the Wichita Falls Wildcats of the NAHL fits a similar mold. Cowley has the prototypical size NHL teams look for, recently measuring in a 6'4" 190 lbs. with very respectable athleticism for a goalie his size. But he is also about as raw as goal tending prospects come. Prior to this season, Cowley was playing Midget Minor AA hockey in Colorado and had never worked with a goalie coach. But after a few impressive junior tryout camps last summer, Cowley earned an opportunity with Wichita Falls and immediately began turning heads in the scouting community.

He's been really bad. He's big though and makes the random good save, but to me it seems like he's been using the same glove since youth hockey lol.. It seems really small

I really feel that if Buckles can improve his skating a bit, he could be a really good player

We will really see who looks good and not on friday with the scrimage.
A lot a player look good with no defender in front of them

Tuesday when petro and racine bang a couple of player you see who is more ready for AHL and NHL and who need an other year in college or junior

That's true, but there were still a lot of offense on defense rushes the past few days. Grimaldi and Beaulivillier really seemed to be getting some chemistry together.. They were a team in 2 on 1 drills and they were scoring every time down the ice.

It seems like a lot of people have been impressed with racine. Does he have top 4 pairing potential? When should he get a shot to play in the nhl?

Talked to Racine today, he's got NHL potential right now, I don't know about top-4 just yet. He's a lot faster than I expected and has a pretty good physical game. This year in San Antonio should tell us a lot.

Rampage Nate can probably answer that. Having three hitters in Guds, Petro, and Racine would be dope.

And by the way, that's was a sick move he almost scored on before the fight.

Anyone else think of Matheson as a Brain Campbell type? Or is it just the red hair?

I've seen some of his BC games, and he can really dominate the offensive game. He just oozes confidence and isn't afraid to make the right play at the right time, whether that's simply chipping the puck out of the zone, or deking in from the blueline to get a shot off from the slot. He also has a sniper of a shot from the point. I think we got a REALLY good defensman.

He was always described to me as a Brian Campbell lite. Excited to see how he develops.

Yeah, I think he has the potential to be similar to Brian Campbell. I think he might be a little bigger and have a better shot though.
