I agree. He's fine on this roster for the regular season filling in for some fourth-line minutes. It's not even like he's a complete meathead who just takes dumb penalties constantly. He picks his time and place and is fine as a fourth-line grinder in between.

He's also a worse fighter than most guys that play his role.

Bollig isn't awful. No problem with him as an extra forward.

That is true, but he's a good enough fighter. He can't fight the super heavies, but those guys are few and far between.

Truth, and truthfully, the super heavies generally aren't the guys who take liberties on players and the ones you have to worry about when it comes to that.

Right, we still have Torres, Lapierre, and now Cooke in the West. Add on to that the goon squad they carry in St. Louis. Having Bollig and Carcillo available is nice to have. Hell last year we had Bollig, Carcillo, and Mayers. Guessing they'll ask Bickell to step in on occasion when someone tries to get frisky with Toews and Kane.

Guys like Cooke and Torres aren't afraid of anyone. The rules are set up to protect pukes like that.

doesn't hurt

I doubt they want their newly signed $4m man stepping in to fight and risking hand and head injuries.

I think everyone is forgetting Shaw. He can fight occasionally.

Plus fighting is on the decline and its importance is way over-rated.

Kane is now a scrub like Bollig? This in the Hawks case would be a guy like Bickell... or Shaw.

I agree. But some posters thought he looked good... not sure where that came from, but I suppose the disagreement itself goes to show the unreliability of a tiny sample size.

he looked good for a rookie playing his first por game(s)

he needs seasoning and playing time. He'll get Pirris spot in Rockford

With Marcus Kruger re-signed to a two year contract extension, the Chicago Blackhawks roster is set for next season, barring injury of course.

If additional salary cap space is required, Sheldon Brookbank would probably be the most expendable if defenseman Ryan Stanton is deemed ready for the NHL. However, Ryan Stanton may be the best defenseman of a wretched bunch down in Rockford.

^ Put in Handzus or call up J. Hayes in Carcillo's place, and I'm ecstatic for that forward lineup. I really like your lines.

What a complete line that 3rd line would be. You got your sandpaper from Shaw, your speed/energy and playmaking ability from Saad, and your shooter from Morin. Has potential to be at least as good as Bickell-Bolland-Frolik was.

Jamal Mayers isn't done yet. Agent says forward wants to play another season and is optimistic they will find a team come Sept. #Blackhawks

Seriously Jamal...it's been time to hang em up for a while.

I'd take $500K+ to practice with an NHL squad and sit in a press box.

Mayers wasn't a liability, but he brings nothing at this point except a bit of sand paper and leadership.
