Play Bollig and Brookbank vs St Louis (and only vs. St Louis) and your problem is solved.

I still have faith in Pirri impressing in the last couple of games to earn a spot and get his 10+ game assessment in with Q and company. I'd rather see Hayes in then Smith, but Q really likes Smith and desperately wants a PK partner for Krugs. He's also likes Morin alot, so I would think he's all but assured a spot as well. No matter how you assess it, this might be the grittiest team the Hawks have iced in years.
That 3rd line could be fun to watch. I'd like to see that lineup too, both O and D. Handzus gets days off, and Kruger plays center with Hayes or Bollig. That lineup seems so obvious, that I doubt Quenneville will go with it.

Pirri, Leblanc will start in AHL, and they will bring 1 up after injuries start mounting. Handzus/Kruger will fill he role until it doesn't work anymore, or they (Pirri/LeBlanc) show they belong in the NHL after brief stints.

McNeil, Ross, Broadhurst, Olsen, Dahlbeck, Clendening, and Simpson sent back to Rockford, Hartman going back to OHL Plymouth.

Pirri will play tonight, and is still hoping to make his late case for the job, but Q sounds pretty settled on Handzus for now. #Blackhawks

Q on if Handzus will be 2C on opening day: "I think we're hopeful that's going to be the case. Good chance." In other words, "Yes."

Ugh

Was hoping he'd get the Rozy treatment on the 4th line for most of the regular season

That quote really make it sound (at least to me) like Handzus was Q's second line center ever since he inked the deal.

Yeah, after the past couple years, I'm giving coaching and management room when it comes to personnel decisions..

.... except on the power play.

Q loves his vets, we can hope for a minor strain so somebody else gets a look there. Pirri was never going to get it, it would have gone to Kruger if not Zeus.

I just wanna see a 10 game sample of what Pirri can do in that spot? Is that so much to ask for? It's the regular season, it should be a time of learning. This isn't a team that needs to fight for every point to get in the playoffs. They can afford to mess around a bit early on.

Then the Hawks need to trade Pirri. You can't just have him rot in the AHL. I haven't seen a single game of his except for 2 years ago. I don't know anything about how he plays aside from reading what some have you have written, but if this kid has the potential to be an NHL 2C then i think the Hawks should give him his chance.

If Q isn't going to do that (right or wrong) then trade Pirri

I'd take a third line center for him. That way Q would only play a guy one line over his ability instead of throwing a fourth line guy in a pivotal scoring role.

I'm all for a Pirri-for-Goc/Nielsen-based deal now or at the deadline.

I'd rather have Krger on the 2nd line than Handzus

Handzus isn't going to be there everynight. They'll want to keep him fresh, he's not going to play a ton of games so he's ready for the playoffs. The real question is that will it be Pirri that will benefit or someone else?

What a great situation, a second line center who can't play a ton of games...

We'll rotate our fourth line center on the second line, and give some plug like Winchester minutes on the fourth line to rest Handzus.
