They haven't qualified Matt Halischuk yet either.

Both will be qualified in the end... I think they are just floating their value and seeing what they can get in return for their rights.

No want. I see Elliott and Barrie ahead of him.

On another note, which D do you guys see us going after this off-season if we draft Mack? I really doubt that guys like Scuderi and Hainsey are the answer for us. I see us doing a big splash at D. Just don't have any idea who it will be.

Blum has been average at best every time I see him. I know Nashville are known for their defenders but they do miss from time to time.

They've drafted Parent, Blum and Ellis in the first round since 2005 and none of them developed well. Ellis might turn into a decent player but he's been a disappointment this far.

There will definitely be some sort of trade for a young, almost emerged D. Probably with our 2014 2nd rounder being the main piece sent the other way.

I can also see them going for a cheap and still relatively young UFA like Clitsome or Kostka.

Guys like Hunwick, SOB, Zanon and even Wilson will be gone at some point. I listed Wilson in there because he has the most value and can't seem to stay healthy with us, so maybe a fresh start could fix that (Like Leopold).

Wilson + a late-round pick could get us a pretty solid return, or Wilson for a 2nd rounder in this year's draft could be possible to a team like Philly.

He might be a bit long in tooth, but wouldn't be shocked if Avs make UFA offer to Ference July 5

LHD 5'11" age 34

Interesting. He has a lot of playoff experience.

I'll have to look him up. I dont know much about him.
Well, he's fast for a defensive d-man, plays it safe, extremely unflashy (in a good way) reliable and physical. I don't see why Boston would give up on him, he's the "typical Bruin d-man".

He would add a top 4 D. Not one that I would really desire, but he is at very least better than SOB, Hunwick, Zanon, and Elliott.

I guess he beats Zanon.

Cap issues. The Bruins aren't going to be able to keep everyone.

Still, far from being a top-2D that we need head up to next season. This is what worries me the most. We have too much of those kind of D and not enough talent down there. A guy like Ference isn't the answer for our problem at D.

Really? There is a perfect #3C there... too bad the Avs will have 11 centers by the end of the summer

If they may be trading Boychuk, should we have any interest in reacquiring him?

Looks like Stastny is staying (for now at least)...

I would love Ference, but I do have a few concerns.

- He could become Hannan 2.0
- Already 34 years old, he's gotta start declining soon.

I looked at our roster and the first thing I noticed we're missing was a 3rd pairing defenseman who's a dbag to boot.

Sure. Depends on the price, of course.

Ference? Meh. He's a decent player, but then we'll have him and Hejda (assuming Ference gets at least a 3 year FA deal, which he will) at 36-37 years old a couple of years from now, each making $3.5M or so. Not sure that's a good plan.

Not the answer.

For either the Avs or Jagr, I suspect.

Would love to get him as a project defenseman.

Trade Stastny for a defenseman.

Sign Jagr, he would accept a 1 year deal and he would be great around our kids.

Don't overpay for Ference, give him a decent offer and offer him a big role on the team instead.

PLEASE

Why do we need Ference? He's not that good for God's sake, do we really need another guy who's #4 on his best days?

Stastny doesn't have enough a good value to bring back a top-4 D for the following reasons:

- Cap hit
- Becomes UFA
- His number has decrease

The only player I see getting for Stastny is Dan Boyle who will become UFA next season. I'd rather keep Stastny right now...I am sure he will bounce back under Roy's style of coaching.
