Chiarelli was quoted today as saying the Bruins will not buy out anyone.

They have enough money to sign Rask, not much more though. They have enough to let rookies fill any spots and still have a little cap space left over to make a deadline deal if they put Savard on long term injured reserve. They only need to make a move if they want to sign Horton or another winger at $5+ million.

Jagr won't be back most likely and Ference won't be back unless the Bruins decide to trade Bartkowski or Krug and as much as Ference has meant to the team I am not sure that Ference is as good as either of those guys who will be paid less than half of what Ference would want even if he was taking a discount.

Rask gets at least $6M plus they need a backup at $1M.

They would like to keep Horton and Jagr.

Savard goes on LTIR opening up $4M of space. That space plus w hat was committed n 12/13 would over goalies.

I serious see Boychuk, Peverley, Kelly and possibly even Lucic or Seguin traded for picks, prospects, or cheap contracts. The net effect they open up cap room.
They have a $1 million backup. Svedberg was the AHL goaltender of the year this year.

I don't think they want Jagr back at all, he just didn't fit and he is too slow. Horton they would probably like to have return but that won't be possible without a trade of someone like Peverley.

I can't see them trading Lucic, Seguin, or Boychuk.

Jagr and Ference won't be back. Peverley will get dealt, and everything will be fine. I think they would also move Kelly if he waived his NTC, but they don't HAVE to. There will be no firesale.

Jagr is gone-zo. I don't care if he wants to re-sign here, which he probably doesn't. If Horton wants more than $5m, can't see us signing him. It all depends on whether or not he wants to stay here, he'd fetch MUCH more on the market.

FORWARDS
Brad Marchand ($4.500m) / Patrice Bergeron ($5.000m) / Tyler Seguin ($5.750m)

Chris Kelly ($3.000m) / Ryan Spooner ($0.870m) / Jared Knight ($0.870m)

Anthony Camara ($0.925m) /

Zdeno Chara ($6.917m) / Johnny Boychuk ($3.367m)

Dennis Seidenberg ($3.250m) / Torey Krug ($1.704m)

Matt Bartkowski ($0.650m) /

GOALTENDERS
Tuukka Rask ($6.000m)

Niklas Svedberg ($1.000m)

If we want to re-sign Horton, Kelly will likely have to go, I guess.

I don't know if you remember last year when both Horton and Peverley were both hurt and Jordan Caron came in and looked just as good as Horton for the few games he filled in on the Krejci line. Of course they also have Soderberg, Spooner, and Knight. They are going to have to find a place for these kids or move them to another team sooner or later.

Re-signing Horton would be great but they have a few prospects that look like they will at least ease the pain of letting their first line RW go.

Yeah... That was very short lived... I thought Caron was finally going to find his groove and show his 1st round talent, but after that stretch of ~7 games, he went back to being an AHL 3rd liner. Still is and has been all this season. He got called up for like 5 games and was absolutely brutal.

No way Rask gets north of $6M/per. I expect something around $5-5.5 tops..

According to the report above (and my own intuition), you are wrong. Rask is getting at least $6M per, more likely closer to $7M.

I thought when Caron played this year he made the 3rd line the best it had been for this entire year. He was better than Peverley or Kelly. The only time the 3rd line looked better was when it was Paille-Kelly-Seguin. Caron was hurt for most of the year, I think you may be selling him a little short.

I am not saying he is as good as Horton, I am saying it is time to give him a spot on the team or move him. Caron may be the forward prospect that the Bruins have that has the ability to play an all around game. I wouldn't put much faith in having guys like Spooner killing penalties right away and if they move Peverley and/or Kelly, they need another good penalty killer, Caron can do that at an NHL level, he actually had more PK minutes than Bergeron for a time while he was playing in Boston in 2012.

If he wasn't able to play a top six role he can kill penalties and I haven't ever thought he looked like a 3rd line AHL player. Time to play him or move him.

This.

Would be rough to see him making over $6 million though. Even Thomas only ever made 3-5 million I think. $6 million for a #1 goalie is incredible, and still doesn't affect the team's cap situation. Be greedy, just not too greedy.

Also Fatman "Haggs" isn't someone I'd ever trust. He constantly runs his own agendas, which are miles away from what any fan wants to see happen.

If Rask gets what he is rumored to be asking for, I hope it is somewhere else. He is very good, but not great. The first goal last night did not scream "pay him $7 million" ... at least not to me.
They need first line talent (Horton or someone else). Maybe Briere can be had for cheap if he is bought out
They also need to Replace Ryder to get some offense from the third line. Ryder left two years ago and the team has failed to replace him. Every internal(cheap) option failed (Caron, Bourque, Pandolfo) and putting Jagr and Seguin on the line did nothing. Kelley needs to go.

Rask is worth 5.5m a year 4 or 5 years. Giving him 6m a year is overpayment.

the Bruins have more than enough money to resign Rask with the 5.8m plus the 4 we would get from Savards LTIR. the question is can we find a taker for Rich Peverley or Chris Kelly to free up some extra space to resign Horton. Either one could fetch at best maybe a 2nd round pick, but most likely will be dealt for a 3rd.

Similar to Price's deal, he'll probably get around 6-7 years at 6-7 million per.

Keep Jagr? No. Dude is beyond done.
Boychuk, Looch, and Seguin are going no where.

Ferrence and Peverlley are first money to come off the books.

He is elite goalie and they usually get somewhere between 6mil and 7mil under the new CBA.
