Dennis Seidenberg

What do you feel is fair value for Dennis Seidenberg? I watched the Bruins a bit this year and was surprised to see him put up 17 points in 46 games. He ran out of steam a bit in the playoffs but he is still a great defensemen.

Input is appreciated, thanks!

Also, who do you feel holds more value, Boychuk or Seidenberg and by how much?

it's close but I would say Boychuk has more value, I think Seidenberg is on the back nine. Love both guys though.

If Montreal were better I'd gladly offer our first for him. By this, I mean closer to being a contender.

Thanks. What do you think it would take to get them?

Seidenberg definately has more value than Boychuk.

I'd say a gross over payment, I don't think they would have any interest in moving either.

Dennis Seidenberg is one of those players whose value is higher to his team than it would be to others. Overpayment would probably be necessary to pry him away. I'm thinking a 1st and a good prospect is pretty fair, but since I watch the guy play all the time I'm admittedly a little biased. I'd also consider trading him for a scoring winger of equal value, good old fashioned "hockey trade" style.

If you put a gun to my head and asked me to choose between him and Johnny Boychuk, I might pick Boychuk right now. But I doubt either of them will be traded for a while.

He and Chara were over used and worn out by the end of the playoffs. It was VERY evident. I think Denis is VERY under-rated on these boards and I think he would garner a very nice return if the Bruins were to trade him. I HIGHLY doubt the Bruins would move him but if they were I think he could easily return a pick in the 6-10 range +.

Seidenberg is a #2 defenseman. Boychuk is a #3-4, Ference is a 4-5, and the rest of our defensemen are 6's.

He'd cost a lot I bet.

If you were to make the Bruins a better team then you could have him, otherwise I am pretty sure they are more than happy to have him play out his contract and go from there.

Seidenberg is not on the block. Terrific defenseman, him and Chara got exposed big time by the Hawks... Both absolutely terrific defensively, but they're both slow. That's why they're usually not paired in the regular season. No bueno against Toews and Kane and the Hawks in general.

He's our #2 guy and it would take hilarious overpayment to land him.

See I don't know that I agree.

I think there are some young teams out there that would love to have a top pairing defenceman, with legitimate leadership skills, fair offense, and elite defense.

I don't think Boston has any interest in trading him, but if they did, they will get an arm and a leg in return

Seidenberg is too valuable to Boston's D. He's their #2 guy behind Chara. I don't see them looking to move him. I'm sure they'll sign him to an extension sometime next year.

Seidenberg is crazy underrated. I don't see Boston moving him any time soon.

So Chara's not #1?
