No, Crosby is just another small injury prone player. Habs don't need another smurf.

We deffs aren't getting an elite player (or elite potential) for Markov, teams will want Markov for a playoff run. Something like Iginla's return would be nice but slightly better, though unlikely.
You won't be getting that for 1 year of Markov. It will either be a young player + 2nd/3rd or a prospect + 1st.

Bring Back Pouliot?

I know, I know but he is 6"3 and can still be a decent 3rd liner or 4th and had 20 points last season in 34 games which is decent. Maybe he can play better with Therrien instead of JM

We can prob sign him for 1 year at 1 mil which is a decent cost

I'd take Benoit back over Andrei Kostitsyn, who was also suggested recently.

No thanks. Makes us softer and can give bad habits to newcomers.

The entire league understands now as he does'nt have the passion for this game.

AHL or Europe bound very soon

Why even mention his size, as if it's an asset? Pouliot plays smaller than Desharnais.

Last week or 2 weeks ago, someone on L'Antichambre (Carbonneau? Not sure) said that while Benoit was here, he'd always be lying around somewhere at the Bell Center... one day, one of the coaching staff/GM blew a fuse and gave him ****, they were tired of seeing him lay there and do nothing. Story says he got up, walked farther and sat down on the floor to look at some guys playing Ping Pong...

I always thought he just looked lazy and uninterested. This story, to me, confirmed it. If he had spent some of that time working out and building lower body strength, no doubt in my mind he could have been dominant...

Elliotte Friedman ‏@FriedgeHNIC 1m
RT @JoshuaCooper Preds have put Hal Gill on waivers. Poile doesn't think Gill will be a fit with the drafting of Jones.

Would instantly add 6'7" and about 260lbs on defense. lol

So who needs replacing from free agency?

Ryder, Armstrong, Emelin short term to injury.

Some money was freed up with the Kaberle buyout and we now sit at around $9 million in cap space.

Many names tied to the Habs as usual, but I do not anticipate a ton of moves.

Replace Ryder with = Iginla
* 2years at around 4.5 to 5 million. He can score at a 60 point pace, has grit and could be a solid leader and mentor for the likes of Gallagher, Galchenyuk, Etc.

Replace Armstrong with one of Matt Hendricks, Eric Nystrom
* These guys are physical and could bridge the development of some of the younger prospects like Dumont

Acquire Michael Rozsival to buy time for the recovery of Alexei Emelin.
* Habs do not need any more puck movers. Rozsival can play anywhere in your 2nd or 3rd pairing. He has veteran savvy, can play with an edge and is a responsible defender. Not totally inept offensively either.

Other names that intrigue:

Filpulla, Dupuis, Briere, Murray, Jones, Bozak, Weiss, Brunner, Scuderi, Benoit, Handzus, Stalberg, Clarkson
