Not grading te trade at all. I just enjoy watching David play and am happy he is playing in a system that's better suited for his play style.

Just seen that Zack Kassian got 5 games (+preseason) for breaking the jaw of Gagner with his stick.

No intent, but an injury. Even if you forgive Kessel the first swing, he had one more plus a "spear" later on; no injury but plenty of intent. I'll guess the same for Kessel.

I think it will be less than Kassian. Right or wrong, the NHL often suspends based on the result of the action(i.e injury) and not the intent. I think he'll get the rest of the preseason.

Kessel is having a phone conference tomorrow, which means it has to be 5 games or less.

More than 5 games seems unfair. He's guilty of hacking with his stick, but it was provoked by an attack. The 'spear' at the end looked pretty mild, and maybe overlooked.

I think his attacker is the guy that is going to really get the hammer dropped on him.

Rangers GM called out Stepan pretty hard because of contract negotiations.
same guy who handed out the Richards and Gomez deals.

one more time: I'm just glad we have got Army!

I agree, but he did nonetheless try to stab Scott after he should have left the ice. I'd be shocked if he doesn't get 4 or 5.

Clarkson really is a hockey dumbass. How are you going to try to appeal the 10 game suspension? You can't leave the bench to join an altercation. There is no gray area here.

Too bad for him that the rule is clear as day. Making an "illegal line change" to join an altercation is an automatic 10 game suspension. Him jumping on the ice gave the Leafs 6 skaters and a goalie, and he immediately joined an altercation. The only reason I can see the league possibly giving a lighter suspension is that he didn't throw a punch. He was still very much involved in an altercation, though. He's going to get 10 games. Biznasty appealed his 10 gamer too. Didn't work.

The whole "line change" BS is just funny actually. The brawl started after the leafs made a fresh line change and it happened off the faceoff.

Yeah, its a pretty transparently ludicrous argument.

Yeah that is pretty damn funny. What team would be making a line change during a brawl?

You can clearly see on the camera he jumps on the ice without anyone going off.

DP_57 is well on his way to becoming a fan favorite in Edmonton; see tweet:

EdmontonOilers: How good has @DP_57 been for the #Oilers tonight? Watch Goal #1 and Goal #2 on Edmonton's NHL video website to find out. (retweeted by lkorac10 and 22 others)

Good to hear, most of us are cheering for DP to succeed!

I honestly think he can be a 30 goal scorer with you guys this year! It just wouldn't have happened in STL.

Pretty sure that guy is a Blues fan.

Anyways, I'm really interested to see how he does during the regular season though. If he does well, great, but I don't think he can keep this up. He's always been inconsistent, and the Oilers will be lacking center depth badly. There's no way they continue this 5-1-1 record once teams start actually dressing their real lineups.

Yea, you really, really cannot predict anything based on the preseason. There are always players and teams that tear it up and don't repeat it in the regular season. And there are always players and teams that have people scratching their heads and then are fine in the regular season. The Oilers have talent and Perron is good, but let's wait until the games matter.

I agree 100%. I hope for him he can use the success in the pre-season for confidence / momentum (if it really exists) during the regular season.

But I'm in the boat of skeptics, having seen both the goals he's scored this preseason (most are a bit flukey, not easy to reproduce) and previous streakiness as a Blue.

Perron has been AWESOME for us. It's only pre-season but we're loving his game in Edmonton. Hope MPS is looking good for the Blues, he showed major strides last year

At the time of the trade I was taken aback (I had a 91 Paajarvi jersey) but knew why the deal was done. Hope it turns into one of those win-win trades.

I'd be surprised if they weren't. The Blues just aren't worth much at all, winning will help change that a little, but it isn't going to be dramatic. When it comes to the Blues financials it is basically polishing a turd at this point. New ownership will do as much as possible, and I'm sure they have made some good headway but their hands are tied on several significant factors.

Pens sent Beau Bennett to the ECHL, I thought he was supposed to be a stud.
