Well that'd be a bad strategy considering that could linger on.
I'm sure Armstrong has his potential contract already budgeted in so he knows how much room we have.
Really looking at the numbers we don't have the budget. Also waiting will let the guys get the big contracts like Riberio just got. To me he just is not a 5.5 million a season guy. All the guys will be snatched up with the left over players who still are comparable to sign for a much more reasonable contract.
Scuderi completes his Penguins deal. $13.5m over 4 years.
Yeah, the injury issues that surround a Horton type player is what makes that deal so questionable. With what the cap could potentially be in 5 or 6 years, $5.3m could be a good deal... I think there is a better chance that it is a problem contract at that point.
Horton's surgery this summer means he won't play until December.
If our hands were really tied I doubt we'd be going hard after Weiss.
Armstrong is trying to make something happen, no doubt.
Look at the numbers in the budget to sign Pietrangelo and Stewart. Someone offering Pietrangelo over 8 million is a possibility you have to consider. We can't make moves that will force us into trading other players to cut payroll.
Weiss is going to get 5.5 million a year I do not have any interest in him at all at that rate. Most of the FA centers who sign today will be over 5 million a season. Where do we get the money to sign them and fit everything in our budget?
