As 'most-overrated' how do you not include those players who some rate extremely high?

For each case, it's all relative. Crosby is a superstar, but shouldn't be in the same conversation as Lemieux and Gretzky, but some do put him in that light.

Toews has intangibles, and he had a good past couple playoff games, but to put him up there with historic greats because of that? Don't think so. And frankly, it's hard not to overrate the current cup-winners. Happens for every cup winner.

Giroux had one good season and one good playoff round against a poor defense. Whoop-de-do. Very much overrated present day, let lone historically.

Lundqvist is a great goaltender, but one of the greatest of all time? Meh.

Couture hasn't done much yet. He's good, but to go all ga-ga over him? Nah.

My selection of Getzlaf drew some attention. He's really good, but what has he done since being a #2 guy behind Andy Mac? I like how he plays a lot, but historically, he's an average star. Inconsistency issues.

I dont get the EK is overrated bit ,how many of you posters saying that have ever seen a defenseman on your team put up almost 80 points and win a norris by 21 years old.

I understand some sens fans go overboard with him but he is not an overrated player but a really good one

This is from someone that would love to see him falter, but realize he has TONNES of upside.
Since when does overrated mean not a good player. He's not as good as everything hypes him up to be, but he's still a good player. Coming into this season, I heard comments like, "Seguin has all the tools that Kessel has except better vision and a better shot. If the leafs had Seguin, I guarentee they'd make the playoffs" (Happened before the season) - so it's easy to say that he didn't really meet expectations IMO.

On HF it has to be Reimer and Bergeron. At least lately.

And finding out who's overpaid is fairly easy. For example, i love how he plays, but in a $64mil cap world, Lucic isn't a $6mil player. And Bissonnette? The fact that he earns any NHL salary at all is astounding. (Lol. No offense, BizNasty. Actually, i couldn't come up with a better candidate in Phx. Perhaps Doan, esp. down the road, but i think he'll always offer something on the ice, unlike Bissonnette.)
So you think all of those guys are average? Hmm interesting outlook, can't say I agree however.

We'll see. My post is only specific at this point in time. Obviously it can change in the future. And eventually, the 2013 7th Ov pick will have a name. All we know about him right now is that he's better than Gardiner.

He did score thirty started out hit this year than disappeared especially in the playoffs. The majority of the time he looks like he is skating 100 miles an hour straight ahead but shys from contact until game6. Then I watch Marchand cut in and out and protect the puck so well it's like why aren't you doing that instead of flying straight ahead. Plus he has just been shooting straight at the goalies chest. And like I said julien hasn't exactly given him the best line mates. But I'm not gonna call him a bust yet.

Bryzgalov was over-rated

Now he's under-rated

Neither am I. Overrated IMO, but definitely a good and possibly/eventually high end player.

disclaimer: I really like all of the following players, however I do think that they are overrated

Letang for sure
Malkin (great player but too inconsistent)
Eberle

Gagner (hard working but not as skilled as Top Players, has reached his zenith imho - in fact he was working so hard at times on the ice that it was ridiculous - I remember a game where he flew into the goal because he was trying to force a play)

The beauty lies in being great (most of the time) and making it look effortless
