Why does everyone assume that the "easy fix" will automatically be better than the long range plans currently in motion?

The silver lining, as I see it, is that we have a really good crop of prospects and youngsters. The only thing that would really piss me off is if the budget stuff forces us to start ditching those players just as they start to get good. As long as we avoid that scenario it is all good.

It's going to be this way for at least the next 15 years as sens fans grow up and leafs/habs fans finally die.

It took 40 years for vancouver to mature as a market, take over the region from the leafs. We have less people and a second team to convert them from.
I feel as though I am bonding with you over a mutual hatred of Leafs fans who infect our arena and pull fans away from the Sens.

I am telling you, the Casino would solve so many problems.

Contact your city council rep and tell them you want the Casino in Kanata.

The main thing holding it up is city council. If you tell your rep that is what you want and enough people do it, they have to listen to you. That is why they were elected.

This X1000. We have yet to lose a player recently to finances correct? Also there has been very little off season movement, in the movement that has taken place is there any player you would have wanted on the Sens? I cannot think of one. Nash was a different story, he didn't want to come here and had the right to say so. So until Bobby Ryan or Eriksson or some free agent is moved and it is clear we didn't make a pitch for them I think everyone needs to relax.

There was an interview with Marc Brassard where he sort of implied that the budget could only accommodate one of Alfredsson or a UFA, but not both.

Having the casino on Melnyk's land/having him involved would be huge for the Sens and everyone in the West end and up the Valley. Contact your councillor. Do it for Uncle Euge, do it so the Sens are even more viable, do it to expediate light rail out there, do it so our city isn't even more of a joke when it comes to urban planning.

not to get too far off hockey here, but i'm not in favour of a new casino at all. We already have a ****ing casino. It is large enough to serve our population.

This whole thing is basically about quebec stealing casino revenues from ontario. It's completely stupid and yet another example of the dysfunction that happens in ottawa when you have to get two city governments, two provincial governments, and a federal commission to agree on how we plan our city.

regarding melnyk and the sens though, casino would help. Yes. Also would probably be a huge factor in trying to expedite phase 3 of the LRT plan out to kanata (still talking 20 years or so though).

I would expect it too. It's a respect thing. Alfie made no where near his worth last season. IT's not about Alfie not wanting to take a pay cut.

We need a casino and a strip club out there because Brandon Prust's friends are just going to spend their Prust Bucks in Quebec.

We need to have them spent on more Alfie.

Those fan costs are way off, I wish beer was 5.76, parking was 8.79 and programs were free

I used to work concessions at SBP/CTC and I nearly fell off my chair when I read beer at $5.76. Try doubling that and then adding tax.

Seriously? There was a person that would give it to you as soon as you'd get up the stairs after scanning your ticket.

The bigger picture is more important.

Casino's do more harm than good.

this might not be popular opinion but if it is Alfie or get a younger free agent for 5mill i would robably rather have the free agent.

Alfie doesnt really have a long term future here but lets see how much he makes if he comes back
