1 more point, and it may have been a 3 year extension, really looking forward to this year

I would have preferred they wait, but I am okay with a 1 year extension.

"27-0-0 in games in which its led after two periods under Richards". Awesome.

I also give Richards and the coaching staff a lot of credit for establishing the kind of game they expect from the players and then sticking with it. In late February the team played really well for a five game stretch and just couldn't buy a win. The coaches kept on the players to keep at it and it worked.

You could say that.

You could also wonder what sort of free agent would sign to play here under a lame duck coach who may or may not be there the following season. The signing shows stability in the coaching staff even in lieu of Acton splitting.

For all intents and pourposes it's meaningless save for the pay off if he gets fired.

I agree, and I'm not sure everyone gets the concept. Coaches normally get extended so their authority over the players isn't in question.

What that statistic means to me is: A few more goals=Much more winning.

We can hold a lead. Under Arniel, not at all.

About what I predicted.... he did earn an extension but I want to see the producton after one FULL CBJ season... it appears JK does too...

I'm fine with this, in fact I like it.

I believe the same parallel is applying to Bob's negotiations.

Totally apathetic. I don't like or dislike him. He seems to bring a style that the players can work with. I don't like some of his moves, but I'm going to get that with most head coaches.

So... Good for him and /meh.

This likely needed to happen. If nothing else to keep the media from asking about his "Lame Duck" status.

He earned it as well.

I still think this doesn't provide a "Mandate" from the brass on Richards future though. Flexability is a good thing on this front, especially when you have a new Pres and new GM, neither of which "hired" the coach.

Good for Todd. He did a very good job this past season and deserved another year on the deal.

Shouldn't have an effect on that. If the CBJ regress this season, Richards will likely pay the price, extension or no extension.

I don't think this extension affects his job security much. It rewards him for a job well-done last year and guarantees him a paycheck for the next 2 years no matter what happens. From that perspective, I'm happy for him.

So so move. Jarmo and JD on the hot seat to produce. Next few weeks will be interesting as they continue to put their touches on Howsons creation. If their moves(trades, draft, signings) don't move us to the next level this franchise is in trouble.

Huh? In the hands of JD and JK, this franchise has never been stronger/had a more optimistic outlook. What exactly do you mean by "in trouble"?

Sorta kinda the same. I was extremely apprehensive when we brought him on, but I can't argue with the results we've gotten so far.

27-0-0 leading after 2. Wow.

Not so sure about that, any more than any mgmt team is under pressure to produce. In fact the love/slurp fest that has been going on here since JD came in, is quite uncharacteristic. I would say at this particular point in time they pretty much have carte blanche as far as the fan base is concerned. In JD/Jarmo we trust.

Some BIG moments approach however and all of that can change in the blink of an eye. .

I mean the fanbase expects nothing less than the playoffs. Press has primed us that life will be better in the east. They are on the hotseat to produce. These are tricky waters to navigate (bob, pros pal, 1st end picks, etc). We ultimately won't know the results these decisions drive until well into the comming season. Arace's comments reinforce the notion that they can't screw this up. While I understand their position on Prospal I'm left asking myself are we seeing early signs of unraveling last years step forward. The recent revelations in the St. Louis media regarding the sense of entitlement of the blues young core is concerning. After all we've heard so much about the role Jarmo and JD played in the crafting of that current group. Jury is still out on the gabby trade IMHO. Still not sold on shipping the trio we did for a talented well travelled oft injured star who is definitely going to draw less interest on his next contract and would likely fetch less of a return as a rental at the trade deadline. So in trouble just means these moves JD And Jarmo make are critical. Fans will vote with their feet and wallets if the cumulative effect of all decisions yield less than a playoff appearance.
