20-25 goals/50-60 points power forward who shows up for the playoffs. I don't think he'll get the term, he's had a big injury in each of his last three seasons. I see him taking a deal with 5-6 years at $5M or a 2-3 year deal at $6m

This UFA market is like the girl who wants to get married after the 3rd date.

Nobody in their right mind is buying long term without knowing what they're getting.

I could see him maybe getting the money, but not the term.

This would be the bigger issue for me. Imagine paying a 32-34 year old Horton 6 mil/year...awful. Not to mention his injury history.

At a 2-3 year contract maybe. You'd be overpaying but getting prime years from a free agent. Anything more than that, and I'd stay well away.

You knew after being in the Stanley Cup Finals that he was going to ask for crazy money, This is exactly what i thought he would ask for.

Too much term. I think teams would happily give him 5.5M for 3 years. It's not the money that scares them, it's the term.

Horton has had quite a few concussion issues. I can't see any team giving him north of 5 years for that much money.

I guess that's what 2nd liners are worth on the open market when all the stars are re-signed.
On top of that dont forget the concoussion/injury risk with him. $6M is too much risk.

Even though there is a LTIR, it doesnt automatically remove that salary from the cap...its more complex than that.

At that price alot of teams will be out, Only the garbage teams that have money to spend will pay that amount.

Who wouldn't want big money? The real problem is who is dumb enough to give it to them?

I'd like him in Calgary but most id offer him is 5.25M a year, which is a overpayment in my opinion my Calgary has more than enough cap space to pay for it. I would give him 4 years 21M

That's a lot of money, way too many injuries in years past to keep in consideration as well

Most I would do is 3 years at 5.5 and not a cent/year more.

If someone else wants to go beyond that, have fun with Hortsy

If it's only 5.25 for 3/4 years he stays in Boston imo.

Horty is looking for big cash so I can see someone ponying up with 5.75-6mill over 4/5 years
