Forward lines you would like to see in Sochi

With Olympics coming up next winter, if you could choose to put a forward line together for one of the teams, what would it be and why?

For me, I would love to see Toews, Bergeron and M.Richards together on a line for Canada (except if/when they play the US - then I'd like them to all have a case of the flu for that game). That would have to be the best shutdown 2-way line at the Olympics. Great at faceoffs, great at Selke level defensive play, very good offensively and just plain relentless. I don't think it would matter that they are all centers because I think they have all played wing in international tournaments before.

I'd love to see Daniel Alfredsson with the Sedin Twins. Just because he's Alfie.

Sidney Crosby with Steve Stamkos and Claude Giroux on the wings could be awesome. Three centres, I know, but I'm thinking Canada may ice as many as ten centres for the thirteen forward spots.

I know that there is no way Stamkos wont be on the team, but as much as I think MSL should be on his wing, I think they will go with somebody younger.

Ladd-Bergeron-Richards as a shut down line would be unreal.

Bobby Ryan - Joe Pavelski - Patrick Kane

This is my guilty pleasure USA line that I've always wanted and would love to see.

St.Louis-Crosby-Stamkos
Hall-Toews-Nash
Lucic-Bergeron-Eberle
Sharp-Richards-Perry
Getzlaf-Thornton-Giroux(if others are injured insert in this order)

This is a hard decision, so many good players to choose from.

Perry, Eberle, Hall and Lucic over Tavares.

Team Canada 'A' and 'B' forwards with two spares each

Rick Nash - Sidney Crosby - Claude Giroux
Logan Couture - Steven Stamkos - Martin St. Louis
Jamie Benn - Jason Spezza - Patrick Sharp
Jordan Staal - Eric Staal - Jarome Iginla
*Shane Doan/Jeff Skinner

Taylor Hall - Joe Thornton - John Tavares
Matt Duchene - Ryan Getzlaf - Corey Perry
Jonathan Toews - Patrice Bergeron - Jordan Eberle
Milan Lucic - Mike Richards - Patrick Marleau
*Andrew Ladd/Evander Kane

So much depth

We saw a version of this in Vancouver 2010 with Nash-Toews-Richards. They dominated all their opponents with their tenacious forechecking, backchecking, and puck control, including the vaunted Ovechkin-Malkin-Semin line. I prefer Nash over Bergeron because his size and speed add that extra element to the line, which makes them difficult to match-up against. Also, Bergeron needs to have his own line as center because of his strong faceoff ability as a right-handed shooter (Crosby and Toews are left shooters).

See above. While they are offensive superstars, Malkin and Ovechkin are both prone to turning over the puck at the offensive blue line and do not get back to their own zone consistently enough. They worked well as a line against the Czech Republic, but their turnovers and poor defensive play was exposed horribly against the Toews’ line when playing Canada.

They played poorly when paired together at the recent WHC. While crazy fast, both Hall and Duchene like to carry the puck up the ice and they did not share the puck well.

I look forward to Doughty and Keith being paired again. They, along with Niedermayer and Weber, were a treat to watch in Vancouver 2010. I wonder who Babcock will pair Weber with?
