Joe Pavelski

The Sharks are loaded at the center position, and Pavelski comes in third on the depth chart after Couture and Thornton. What the Sharks lack are top 6 wingers and high end forward prospects.

Pavelski is first/second line center who can man the powerplay and penalty kill and can take on top competition and effectively drive play towards opposite end. IMO he is one of the best two way players in the game.

What would you send back to San Jose for Joe Pavelski? He has one year remaining at $4.

Btw, I'm not interested in a quality for quantity deal. For example, I would say no to Pavelski for a 2nd and 2 mid-level prospects or bottom-6 players.

I feel the Stars should be interested. What are San Jose's needs?

Loui Eriksson fits our needs perfectly. Jamie Benn would too but he is probably untouchable.

Doubt they would trade Rattie, he had a great season in junior and his value rose drastically.

No chance they give up Tarasenko+Perron/Stewart.

Rattie/Jaskin would not be added and we wouldn't give Tarasenko.

Pavelski's contract will lower his trade value. It's more of Perron+2nd, unless San Jose likes Kurker, Veilleux, or another wing prospect of that caliber.

Highly doubt that a signed pavelski is holds less value then just 1 year. Hr is underpayed at 4 plain and simple. Grabo makes 5.5 I expect pavs to sign a deal around this number. if sharks shift him bk to center he has a few 20 goal 50 assist seasons ahead of him. Def a lot more valuable then most in his price range

No one is going to give what you want when there is a risk of Pavelski leaving. It's why rentals have less value.

Pavelski signed at 4 years would have significant more value than he does currently. Anyone who thinks different just doesn't get it. His value isn't garbage, but it is affected.

Would you prefer to have Pavelski at 1 year or 4 years? The correct answer is 4 years and that's why his value is affected.

Of course he has more value re-signed, so does Letang.

He has at times, but he's best suited on the left as he prefers his off-wing. Stewart is a RW though.

Would absolutely love him on the Rangers, but both teams make awful, awful trading partners. I don't know if Brassard could play W, but in fairy-tale land I'd offer Brassard + or Kreider + to start with. A Top 6 of

Hagelin-Stepan-Nash
Brassard/Kreider-Pavelski-Callahan

Would be great IMO.

Gotcha. If he was signed longer I think he'd get a top 6 forward and a good prospect, but with his contract it would be a pick that isn't a 1st or a mid-prospect. Good players that aren't that old still hold good value regardless of term IMO.

At the same time I believe sj needs to either sign him to extension now before draft or worst case before training camp. If not I think you move him before the season starts to get af much value ad u can. Sure teams overpay at the trade deadline but I think he would bring more of a return before season starts

He really would be a great fit on the Rangers, but I think they won't like the price tag.

Pavs now or later will bring in a 1st and a prospect. If he's traded before the season if he were signed he would likely bring a nhl roster player as wrll

Exactly, although I think San Jose would be foolish to trade him after his great playoff performance.

I want him signed for sure. But if it's looking like smithing can't be worked out I say u move him Early. You get full value for him as well as start incorporating other players into the team and building that chemistry. Wilson won't just let him walk. Look at clowe and murray. Pavs holds more value then either if those 2. And if they trading him before season starts the return could look a lot better then many think. Like I said I wZnt him signed. But if not we need to weigh options quickly

Something around Brooks Laich or Troy Brouwer? Caps need a legit 2C option but would pretty much need to send back salary in any deal.

Depends on what the centerpiece of the deal is but their biggest pro need right now is a top six winger type. Right now with Havlat hurt, they're looking at a line setup that is like this...

Marleau-Couture-??? supposed to be Havlat's spot
Galiardi-Thornton-Burns maybe
Torres-Pavelski-Hertl

They could use one winger right now to replace Havlat, another winger to possibly push Burns back to D, and maybe a third one if Pavelski is traded and Hertl slides over to center but that is plausibly replaced by Tommy Wingels. The value of the trade will be similar to that of Staal and Burns' trades.
