Tomorrow is a big day for sens fans

Friday is most likely the day we find out if alfie retires or not. Who is ready for it?

I'll be incredibly surprised if he calls it. Don't see him retiring yet.

Lots of tears will be had if he does indeed decide to call it quits. Either way he will go down as one of the best Captains in Sports History.

Will never happen. He has already confirmed that he would be staying with the sens no matter what. He is loyal to the sens.

I would be shocked if he calls it a career this year, but it does have to happen eventually. It would be nice to see the team taking a legit shot at the cup in his final year.

I'm okay either way if he retires or decides to play a little longer. My gut feeling is that he signs for another yr at maybe $4.5 mil & then addresses this again next season. Then again he could sign for two yrs & say that will be it after two yrs.

When Alfie does resign, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see him take quite less than what he could get.

I think Dreger said he could get around 6 mill on the open market. I'm expecting around 4.5, but what do I know?

Some people taking the possibility of Alfie retiring lightly. If Alfredsson retires, I will have a memorial in my strip. Erryone will come out and cry for a series of 2 weeks, where we will mourn the great loss. And I live in TORONTO.

I have actually been thinking a lot about alfies possible retirement recently. While i would love for him to come back one more year, i would be okay if he does indeed retire. We would be able to use his money on one or two free agents possibly. But if he does retire, we lose his leadership abilities. Whatever happens happens i guess.

There is no free agent available that would give us what Alfie would, so no, he is more important.

Not only the leadership, he is our best winger and is coming off a PPG performance with unbelievably clutch moments.

The impact Alfredsson has on this team even skill wise and how he slows the game down is tremendous. People were saying we wouldn't make it with skill but Alfie's leadership kept the team together and he helped Pageau feel comfortable.

I think it's pretty fair to say he'll be back next year.

I was thinking, we have Alfie countdown chants, normal Alfie chants and some have tried to start a One More Year chant. How about at the home opener we chant "Thank You Alfie", whether he's back or he retires. It could be the same type as "Let's go Bruins" but with Thank You Alfie instead.

Anyone interested?

This should be done. We'll have to get it spread around enough once the season opener rolls along so that it spreads through twitter and reaches all sorts of news publications in Ottawa that will pass on word. Basically the same way the "11:11" chants started.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. I mean we have a lot of posters here, so the word should be able to spread fairly quickly.

We have a lot of chants to get Alfie going but we don't really have one to show thanks and appreciation for everything he's done for this team and city.

A "thank you Alfie" chant at the home opener (assuming he does come back) would be AWESOME
