Most Hawks fans would seem to give that title to either Poapst or Klemm.

There must be a site out there on the Net that has a listing of all the available players for the waiver draft.......I'll see if I can find it for everyone in here........

I dont think you know how the waiver draft works. The protected lists haven't even been submitted yet. Once they are, all the major sites (TSN, Sportsnet) will report.

Some of the guys in here were tossing names around like the list was already released or something.

This may be one of the more interesting waiver lists we've seen in quite some time. There will be some high priced veterans on there that will look mighty attractive to those of us that dont have to pay their wages.I would assume some of these bigger names will be leaked to the media this weekend and have possibly been leaked around the league already to allow GMs to lobby ownership for some cash if they're thinking of picking somebody expensive up.

The name being tossed around are just speculation. For instance, barring a trade in the next 4 days, both Phoenix and Detroit will have to expose a goalie since they are currently carrying 3 each and you can only protect 2. Odds are that Joseph and Bierk will be available, but nothing is final until October 1st.

The only d-men likely to be available are ones that their team wants to dump either because they are paid too much or they just plain stink. You may get a decent depth guy but we have plenty of those already. Off the top of my head I think some of the names likely to be available include Nolan Baumgartner, Patrice Brisebois, or possibly Jason Woolley. Not exactly guys who would help us.

The Canes have 7 Dmen, so I'm guessing Aaron Ward or Nic Wallin should be available for the Leafs' taking.

I dunno if I'd take either of them. Ward's got a big contract, and Wallin is just a depth d-man.

I'd be pretty tempted to claim Ward if he was available.

Much less so by Wallin, Hedican, karpotsev or Wooley.

Any real steals would likely be gone by the time we got a chance to grab them anyway. Unless I have my wires crossed or something, I'm pretty sure playoff teams don't get to claim anyone until the second "round."

I would have to think that leaving Reichel unprotected is almost a given. He's useful as a PK specialist, but we have a few of those, and he really doesn't bring much else to the table. I'm thinking we might buy him out if he goes through waivers, though if Fergie's going to trade some forwards for a vet Dman, we might need him after all...

A team like Detroit or Jersey that is a little thin up the middle and not real cash-strapped might even be a little tempted by him, too, but I doubt we'd get that lucky...

Am I the only person who thinks Breezy might be an OK player anywhere but Montreal? Not the kind of defenseman we need, but if he was available for nothing in the waiverdraft, he would still be just a little bit tempting, nonetheless.

Ward, I believe makes about $1.5 mill. I'm not sure if that qualifies as big.

New Jersey will probably have Ray Giroux available. He has played pretty well in the preseason and if it weren't for the waiver draft he'd probably be on the 3rd defence pairing with Sean Brown in New Jersey.

The Klee signing is even stranger now that the leafs will have to leave someone else exposed... If they would have waited a few more days to sign him than they could have protected an additional player ..

or maybe that was the point of the whole thing in the first place..
