Besides, we'll be working with a tight schedule and won't the GC take quite some time to get to from Phoenix?

No interest in resorts, I can't golf, most stuff doesn't carry food I can eat(picky vegetarian), I hate spas and waterparks, if I want to lose money I buy dumb **** instead of go to casinos and I got a wife and kids; I don't need no escorts or need to get laid with some random chick. If I wanted to cheat on my wife I could do that at home.

More realistically, the red moon that's on our pants. I think that was the center logo on the EAsports video games awhile back. (NHL 04 for sure) and I really liked it.

Would love to bring back the moon. How realistic is it though? The team doesn't even recognize the logo or the kachina look anymore. You can't find either in the Ice Den shop.

Maybe the fans need to pull a Ken Jones and start a petition.

I love the sentimentality and remember - and liked - the purple moon logo, but how realistic do we think this is?

I feel like a big part of the "attract more fans strategy" will be appealing more to the snowbirds. Do we do that by making the whole game presentation more stoic / serious / professional / button-down, or by making it double-wacky and creating a clear contrast between this team and the Bruins / Wild / Canucks they're leaving behind. I honestly don't know where I fall on that ...

Might be in the minority but I always thought it was a bit cheesy. The whole fireworks, cartoonish presentation made me feel they were trying to overshadow the game.

Wasn't the wackiest thing ever though. The Arizona Sting games where they blasted music and the arena announcer talked to the players over the PA during play took it to another level.

I didn't like the old uniforms. I think the colors were ugly. The Kachina symbol looks like a jacked up coyote on crack. Phoenix is a large city. It doesn't need to be identified by the desert in a caricature like way. I hated the old D-backs uniforms with it's purple and teal also. I love the new uniforms. Sure, it may be a little Red Wings rip-off but at least they are modern and stylish. And who cares if they emulate the Red Wings. They are a successful organization and have nice uniforms. I don't see anything wrong with copying good things.

I don't care if you guys want a change and go in a different direction. But please don't go back to the kitsch-like Arizona themed uniforms. We are a large modern city. Everything we do doesn't have to deal with the desert, kachina, southwest, teal, purple etc.

Should we go on an old man watch to see where he sets up his table and grumpiness?

I keep hearing that the Police and Firefighters should get together and help KJ in his quest for signatures. That would be counterproductive. Basically, it would pit them against people that would be losing their jobs at the Arena and some of the businesses. I know their jobs are of a different importance, I think the decision was made to save jobs in general and not have to make those cuts in 5 years time. If anything, CoG will ask for an extension of the 'temporary' sales tax (which is not even noticeable by the way) if things have not turned around enough.

Am I wrong here?

We had great Sting tix in on the glass in the corner behind our net. I remember the PA guy would lead the crowd when the opponent got a penalty as the guy (say #18) headed to the penalty box "#18...Get In The Box!" It was cheesy fun and the fans got into it.

Thankfully though it never carried over to the hockey games, although I have to admit a couple times when I was at a Yotes game a day or two after a Sting game it did pop into my mind...

It registered with me because he mentioned the dollar menu and that he bought 5 things and I thought he's either a real pig or he was buying lunch for himself and another person. I have NEVER bought 5 things for myself on the McDonald menu, even the dollar menu. What the hell could he have bought to stuff in his piehole? A burger, fries, spicy mcchicken, big coke and what else? ANOTHER THING?
Burger/fries/coke - 3 things. Chicken/fries/coke - 3 things.

5 things for lunch off the $1 menu. How annoying. If all for him, he's killing himself slowly.

When he said that, I happened to be listening (my feed of the meeting kept 'buffering' and I missed a bunch but I heard him say that) and to be honest, if any of them had said that it would have jumped out at me.

5 things off the $1 menu that's too big a meal - unless he's running a marathon in the afternoon.

paying an extra penny on each dollar or even paying an extra 3 pennies on each dollar every time he goes to McDonalds and gets 5 things off the $1 menu for lunch - paying those extra pennies is the LEAST of his problems. The guy is literally going to kill his health eating like that.

He'd be better off to park in Glendale and walk to a McDonalds in a neighboring town with lower sales tax to walk off some of those calories at the same time...

Guessing though that a guy who likes to go to McDonalds a lot for lunch and get 5 things off the $1 menu doesn't exactly care about his health.

Weird story. I'm always slightly confused why the Chipotle next to the Walmart on Northern and the one at Westgate and the one in Surprise all charge slightly different amounts for a double-steak bowl, but didn't realize there was a city sales tax in play.

Dislike all taxes but I like sales taxes the most, just because there's no complex paperwork / time wasted / interest free loan to the govt (payroll tax withholdings). I'll keep that in mind next time I'm trying to scrap together the last 8 cents to buy food.

Sales tax also gets everybody, instead of just some, which is nice. As a man with many vices, I also don't mind the vice tax. Tax on booze and cigarettes ought to be really high.

I'm sure this will derail the thread, especially when it's full of Arizonans, but: sales taxes tend to be pretty regressive. People with less money tend to spend a much higher proportion of it on things that have sales tax.
