Edmonton-Colorodo

I rarely do proposals but thought that this might work. Not a fan of either team.

1st overall
For
7th + Eberle

Edmonton gets a 1/2 centre combo that rivals any in the league.

Colorado gets an elite top six winger and a young stud D man in Nurse.

Ouch. Maybe Eberle for the 1st, but not Eberle + 7th overall.... way too painful.
Does Colorado have some quality D that they would add to at least sweeten the pot ?

Cheers,

Value is fair but I think you'll find that neither fan base is crazy about the idea.

I think MacKinnon/Jones has franchise player upside and Avs need that. It'll probably be the last chance to get that for a decade for this team. Avs have pretty decent winger depth and I'm not crazy about paying a player like Eberle $6M/year. Wonderful offensive talent but I'm not sold on his 200ft game.

Edmonton fans like Eberle more than me and are probably eying Monahan/Lindholm with the pick and feel comfortable with RNH and one of their new centers down the middle long term.

I knew that neither fan base would like it.

While the Avs have some wing depth, do they have anyone other than GL that can be considered true top six on a contender? Not to mention their need for D.

No offence to Monahan and Lindholm but if you can acquire a player like MacKinnon, you do it.

Wasn't Lindholm the best player in the WJC?

I'll take Lindholm/Monahan+Eberle over Mackinnon.

Avs have Landeskog, Parenteau, Tanguay, Downie, McGinn as top nine wingers. Not to mention they have four high end centers if they get MacKinnon so one have to play on the wing. It's good enough winger depth for now.

Defense is work in progress, but it's a problem that won't be solved by adding someone like Nurse.

As much as I love Eberle(amazing player), and I'm sure the 7th pick will pan out great, the post above me pretty much sums it up. Value is there, but to me it's more our forward depth is great.

To realistically move it(for a potential franchise guy) it would have to significantly solidify our defense. Which means IMO, Eberle has to be swapped with J.Schultz or Klef, or drop the pick for both. And I'm not sure if that's getting closer or farther for both teams.

Really all about the plan to set the team up for success. In Sakic and Roy I trust, lol

Seems like decent value. But I think Colorado says no. From Edm point of view, i think about it.

On second thought, I think Colorado thinks long and hard about it too. You never know with Roy either. I think I would do it as Edm and draft Mackinnon. The combined speed and skill of Hall, Mack, and Yak would be tough to handle. Not to mention the 1-2 punch of RNH and Mack.

Oh god no.

I wouldn't even do the original proposal. Not that the value was that far off, it would just take a stupid overpay for me to want to lose mackinnon.
