Islanders/Ducks Blockbuster

This trade is a but far fetched but the Isles tried to pry Ryan from ANA last draft and maybe it'll work this draft or after? We'll see:

Islanders receive: Jonas Hiller, Bobby Ryan

Ducks receive: Niño Niederreiter, Michael Grabner, 15th overall pick, Kirill Kabonov

Ducks give up the two best players here so i'm gonna go out on a limb and say Anaheim declines.

The Islanders were after Ryan last year?

If we're trading Ryan it will have to improve the roster for next season. We're not trading him for a package that is mostly futures.

Maybe remove Nino & Grabner, add Nielsen and Moulson?

Nah, if that was a legit deal the Isles should be all over it!

Hamonic isn't for sale. That's pretty terrible for the Isles too.

As a Ducks fan I'd do it. Grabner and Etem on the same line would be awesome to watch. Plus we'd shed some salary getting rid of Hiller

I'm an Islander's fan, but Sbisa is almost as good as Hamonic, Ryan is the best player in that package, Hiller becomes our #1 goalie, and we still get a first round pick back. Seems like a good trade for both teams. That trade makes the Isles better. Ryan gives us a big forward to ride shotgun w/Tavares for years. Sbisa is a fine young D-man, Hiller isn't great, but an upgrade over Nabakov. I'd do that trade.

Hiller might be the 2nd best player now, but given he has 1 year till being a UFA value wise I put him 4th on the list of things

If only. Hamonic is streets ahead at this point.

Should trade just for hiller and use more budget/asset conscious options than Ryan. Whatever team overpays for him won't get proper bang for their buck.

I would take it as a Ducks fan. Grabners speed would fit in great with Cogliano and Etem. I've seen Nino play with Bridgeport, and I have no complaints. Then again, I would do just about anything to lose Hiller.

Why? He might not be an Allstar any more but he's definitely worth keeping around as an insurance policy for Fasth

He has his moments, but he is way too streaky to put trust in, and there is really no need for him. Fasth has proven himself and the team has Andersen and Gibson who have both shown a lot of promise. To spend 4.5 mill on a goalie that wont even be considered #1 isn't really necessary with teams in the league that could use a starter.

25 games is not a significant enough sample size to say Fasth has proven himself.

Fasth proved he could play well for 10 games then get injured in 1/4 of a season and not get healthy for the next several months. That's a far cry from proving he's a starter making a workhorse like Hiller expendable. Lets wait until he stays healthy for an actual season and just as importantly isn't undressed after teams get a book on his tendencies before anointing him the savior, shall we?

. I'd do that trade.
Sbisa , struggling on the 3rd pairing , does not come close to having Hamonic's impact.
Hamonic plays first pairing mins and showed in the playoff what a stud he will be.
I am hoping he signs a 5-6 yr extension. I don't see Snow moving him for 2 yrs of Ryan.
