I don't think Tampa took any of mittens salary and there is no more re entry waivers so I don't think a team retains half the salary if a player picked up anymore

Hal Gill placed on waivers. He is a bottom paring guy, solid on the PK, though very much of a short-term player given he is 38. Signed at 2 million and a UFA next summer. Some team will claim him, I am sure.

RT @JoshuaCooper Preds have put Hal Gill on waivers. Poile doesn't think Gill will be a fit with the drafting of Jones.

Yeah, Gill on waivers is interesting for sure, more talk about Blum and Halischuk going to UFA status as well, Nashville doing some house cleaning.

Edit -

Lotsa D on waivers today.

In conclusion: Regular waivers features Russell, Zanon, Hunwick and Gill. Jeff Schultz on unconditional waivers, Caps to buy him out

Zanon is an absolute pylon, and Gill isn't that far behind.

Do not want those waiver pickups...

Now Lecavalier, I wouldn't mind seeing in a Jets jersey

I actually wouldn't mind Gill just to flip him before the deadline.

I think Russell would be the guy to grab out of that list. If we were interested in grabbing at all.

Well, at least Flyers fans are happy with the deal. Doesn't solve their goalie or D problems, and having a 33 year old 2C for 5 years will bother them come the last few years of his deal.

Not much else to say about it. I didn't harbour any illusions about Vinny coming here, and certainly not for that term.

How the hell is Philly so lucky? Plus how many contracts do they expect to move? Not only for this year, but next year Giroux, Schenn (Brayden), Mason, and Couturier all need new deals.

Full steam ahead! Icebergs, contracts, and caps be damned! I actually quite like the craziness that is Holmgren (and the Flyers owner).

Philly lucky?

That franchise is a trainwreck and their solution is signing a D Man that is due to start filming "just for men" commercials any day and a aging 2C to a long term deal.

They have ****** D, no Goalie, and haven't drafted well outside of the first round for a decade.

Nope

You only get 2 in total

You can use them either this year or next year or 1 this year 1 next year etc etc

C'mon KW - how boring would an off-season be without Holmgren.

Now that the Flyers have used their 2 compliance buyouts, can they also use "normal" buyouts (Meszaros, for example)?

Great for Philly.

Do they need/want to move a C now? Giroux, VL, Schenn, Couts.
Can't see Schenn and Couts wanting to play on the 3rd and 4th lines. Or do they move Schenn to wing?

Vinny is a quality individual but Honestly that is a bit of a mess and they may need to make a trade at some point unless some of those guys can play the wing? How long can you keep coots down?

Those were my thoughts as well PS. Wondering how long Couts and Schenn are happy in their roles. Unless some guys move to wing of course.

Yeah Couturier kinda being set up to fail here, and Schenn will be forced to move to wing.

Realistically it's not a terrible contract for Lecavalier, but unless they're planning on trading one of those young centers to shore up the defensive side of things I don't see things working out too well for them.

Lol no way I'd want Lecavalier at that term and $$. Philly will never win a cup with Holmgren running things.

The good news is that it removes both incentive and cap space from Philadelphia to go after Little.
