If Pits was rolling Crosby, Malkin and MacKinnon I'd be pissed. Stop hoarding all the centers!!!

I bet Florida pays BIG to land Mac. Everyone not named Huberdeau will be on the table.

It will definitely take a major overpayment, considering the Flames offered the Avs all their 1st rounders..

That's pretty much what he (and Joe) said at his introductory press conference.

IMO, they want gudbranson or hedman plus a first. Trying to turn one great prospect into two. Never gonna happen. Avs pick first.

Which is pretty much what he has said weeks ago.

"To pass below (No. 3 overall) will take a heck of an offer, something we are going to say ... no choice but to take it"

Jones is good but is that enough to push him over a star forward. I would take my chances and acquire an already established D.

I am thinking of the other ''J'' Ds recently (last 8 years) drafted. They haven't been that exceptional.

The top 4 almost seems like a wash at this point, they are all so talented. It would be in Colorado's best interest to listen to offers to trade down slightly draft a top 4 player and add some bonus pieces as well.

Jeebus cannot wait till MacKinnon is wearing an Avs jersey tomorrow then this insanity can stop.

Of course when the Avs actually do pick MacKinnon, like they have flat-out said all along, the conspiracy theorists will come out of the woodwork and claim the Avs really didn't want MacKinnon but that an 8-team deal featuring Paul Stastny, Jake Gardiner, Kris Letang, David Desharnais, Chris Coyle, Roberto Luongo, Joe Pavelski and all of Calgary's first round picks for the next decade fell apart at the last second. Damn. If it had come to fruition, HF Boards would have imploded into some sort of internet black hole, sucking all hockey rumors and twitter reports to another dimension with nothing left but a black screen.

If one of the other top 3 teams offers a young top 4 defenseman to move up (*cough Kulikov *cough), which won't happen, then the Avs could move down.

Either way, this isn't new. Roy has said this from day one.

Yes it has Burke gave it to Atlanta

I wouldn't trade 1st overall straight up for those two...let alone add anything.

This would be on the basis they were signing but I could see why the Avs would rather keep the #1 OVR.

This seems logical. Rather than take the D prospect in the draft, hype up your intention to take a forward, get a team below you to panic that their guy might not be there, acquire a young D man farther along in his development (IE: Gudbranson, Hedman, Josi) and still have a forward left at 2, 3, or possibly 4.

I also agree that Florida, Tampa, and Nashville would be wise to refuse any such deal that consisted of their 1st plus any of the above named players. It won't happen, as you said.

If Roy and Sakic trade the #1 overall for the "privilege" to pay Letang 7.5M+ a year, I will personally start the Fire them all thread on our board.
This would piss me off beyond imagination..

The only way this pick can move now without making our FO look like idiots is if Florida or TBL go into panic mode and offer something crazy like their 1st + Kulikov/Gudbranson or Hedman (way too valuable but the Lightning do not have a less valued asset that would make sense. Not a fan of Koekkoek) or NSH gives up Josi to trade up.

Nonis was also on record saying that it would be unlikely that he trades for one of the top 5 picks. Leaf scouts said they would get a good prospect at 21.

I think Nonis is looking to trade for impact players.

Whew, okay, yeah... No! Tallon isn't going to trade away top assets hes been building since he became GM for one player amongst four top draft prospects just to land Mackinnon. While we all want and we're expecting Mackinnon before Avs made their voices heard, we would be very happy with any of Barkov, Drouin, or Jones at #2. Hell, I can see Tallon trading down a spot or two to gain another pick or player and still draft either Drouin or Barkov. We can draft Drouin, sign Lecavlier and put them on a Line with Huberdeau. We could draft Barkov, have a top line of Flash-Lecavlier-Huberdeau and a 2nd line of Mueller-Barkov-Versteeg. We could draft Jones and pair him with Campbell and watch him blossom into a Noris winner.

Why on Earth would Tallon trade big assets when we could have any of that?

Last year Isles had a top 5 pick. Not this year.

Could see Buffalo going all in. Grigs + 8 + Myers/Sekera/McNabb/Pysyk (whatever makes Colorado happy) for 1st + 2013 3rd

I always felt that the "We're going to take Nathan MacKinnon" thing was to perhaps expedite some real trade offers, instead of the usual crap. But I'm sure they'll still take him if no real offers come in. But maybe trading down 2-3 spots, acquiring good assets and grabbing Drouin is something they are truly interested in.

I haven't seen anything legit ever posted by Dater.
