Wild listening to offers on Setoguchi, Brodziak, Falk and T.Mitchell

per Mike Russo
Quote:
It'll also be interesting to see if the Wild moves guys like Devin Setoguchi or Kyle Brodziak or Torrey Mitchell. It's listening to offers at least.
Quote:
Also, the Wild has yet to extend a qualifying offer to potential restricted free agent Justin Falk, his agent confirmed to me. The Wild, which has been shopping Falk, has until Tuesday to decide if it wants to retain the defensemanís rights.
http://www.startribune.com/sports/blogs/213698991.html

Not sure there will be much of a market for Setoguchi and Mitchell this year, to be honest, with the cap going down. Brodziak and Falk, though, I could definitely see drawing some interest as Brodziak is a center, and there's not a ton of them on the market, and Falk is a cheap bottom-pairing defenceman.

I would love to add Seto to Calgary but I doubt we have the pieces to make a deal.

Toronto would definitely be interested in Falk or Seto

Oilers better be going after a Brodziak and Clutterbuck package.

Would love Brodziak in Buffalo. Wild fans, what would you want from us? Would a pick be enough to get it done or would you be interested in a player or prospect?

Still would consider offering Stafford for Setoguchi if the Wild would be interested in that. Would be a swap of very similar players who have struggled in general the last two seasons. If we can't find a better package for Stafford I would definitely consider Setoguchi straight up.

I expect Setoguchi and Brodziak to have some good value. Falk and Mitchell not so much but there could be takers for both.

Lowballing buddy. Seto is a two time 20 goal scorer and a one time 30 goal scorer with some seasons with goals in the high teens. Try a second and a prospect as a starting point. I am spitballing though because I don't know of his true worth.

Didn't the Wild just sign Mitchell last offseason?

One of Clutter or Mitchell is staying. Can't see Fletcher moving both.

Yeah started low intentionally. Most Isles could do in this draft is the 3rd (don't have our second) or a 2nd in 2014.

It was mentioned by Russo today that he believes GM Chuck Fletcher wants to move Clutterbuck to the East. Knowing the way Clutterbuck plays, that would be a wise move, you can bet he will be extra motivated every time he plays his former team.

That might be because the Eastern teams likely have not seen him play that much.

They signed Mitchell right away to be the third line LW, but then they got Parise a few days later who bumped all the wingers down and Mitchell got stuck on the fourth line.

If the Wings can't re-sign Brunner I wouldn't mind the going after Seto. What would the perceived cost be?

Aw... ok. Then yeah, maybe it would make more sense (cap wise) to have one of the kids replace him on the fourth line.

I think the Sens would have some interest in Seto if they strike out on a bigger target.

Jim O'Brien + 2nd in 2014 for Seto

Surprise!

And it seems like we're trading away half our team. Wow, this is going to be a wild weekend. Pun intended.

So what do we do if Lindy struggles? Roll Boyle at 3C for 50+ games?

I still think it would make sense to move Clutterbuck and have Mitchell fill that role, but if they move Seto, they could keep Mitchell and Clutterbuck.

I would doubt Brodziak gets moved because Granlund was terrible at center last year, and they will likely have to put Coyle there because they can't afford Cullen.

Falk has no value at all.

Also not listed but on the block, Konopka. He was a pretty mediocre fourth liner. IMO when they called up AHL journeymen Veilleux and Dowell, they completely outplayed him. Russo said Dowell would be the 4th line center.

And Tom Gilbert, who was great for two weeks and then bad the rest of the way, apparently had pneumonia? But he's making $4m and they might not be able to give him a second chance.

I also think it's possible Rupp gets regular buyout because he's making $1.5m on the fourth line. If you want to keep your big guns against the cap, have to get rid of these $1.5-2m fourth liners.

Oh yeah, there's also Prosser who is IMO not an NHL'er but played on the third pairing...outside shot someone wants him for scraps (I'd send him to the minors if they keep Gilbert).

Coyle isn't going anywhere, stop this. Not to mention Skjei isn't good, and we already have awful center depth.
