Don't forget the moderators speak english only (almost all of them) and google translator often fails with Qc expressions so they have to pick the best one they understand.

Quebec City Part X: Aimez vos ennemis... Viens ici mon beau Gary!
It says brother instead of cute in the translator

Quebec City part X: Pousse mais pousse égal Gary!
Google translator: Shoot but Gary pushes equal! (that's not exactly the same)

Ya, see, that right there, PKP & his plans to roll-out the all-french sports language station Canada-Wide, competing head-head with the utterly anemic RDS is worth millions to the NHL. Why are they sitting on these revenues like they dont matter? Its completely irrational. Only thing I can figure is Desmarais/Bell & Molsons have a fear of competition, choice. Also affects phone, cable & internet services within the province. Well, last time I checked, consumers are supposed to be given "choices". That kind of monopolization shouldnt be tolerated in this pseudo socialistic country in which we live. If not for the strength of the Vote Count outta Laval and every other Montreal suburb looks to me like its rigged. How does Quebec City fall off the radar, 2nd place to Seattle? You frikin insane? Wheres Harper on this? He wants to win the hearts & minds of Quebecers, get out in front, advocate, apply pressure on Bettman & the league. Ask them why Hamiltons also been denied since 1985? Turn up the heat in the kitchen.

How about taking back the Stanley Cup? It belongs to Canada, not the little weasel in New York and his 29 henchmen on the Board of Governors. We're treated like second-class citizens by the trash who run the NHL for the US these days. No better example of this than what's happening right now with Seattle over QC. We don't have to just sit back and take this crap, year after year.

Take back the Stanley Cup, let the NHL teams for the Bettman Bowl. See how quick QC gets a team and we get clubs in Hamilton, GTA2, etc.

I know that Bettman's a form of boogeyman for you guys up there, but seriously? If most of the team's owners wanted Quebec City over Seattle, then it'd be done.

Bettman's certainly a powerful figure, but he's not like some omnipotent wizard that can bend the entire league to his whim.

but that's not how it works, aside from in people's minds. there's a committee, the expansion and relocation committee, that deals with these issues. If all the owners wanted QC, the team would go there without any debate.

This, this, this.

Bettman has a small fraction of the power most people seem to think he has...he's nothing more than a pawn of the owners, so if the owners wanted a team in QC it would happen. If he was acting against the will of the owners then he'd be quickly removed from his post.

Life is more fun with a scapegoat, though.

Disregard the noise. You guys (QC) are still the front runners imo: temporary arena, new arena on its way, owner, fan base, no marketing required, can handle relocation in July.

If I'm wrong, there must be another plan for an NHL team in QC.

The whole Seattle story is made up for 2 reasons:

- Create a buzz in Seattle and see what's the potential.

- Put the attention elsewhere then the right place: Quebec city, therefore letting PKP and co work with the NHL in complete discretion as the two major media players don't talk about it: Bell because its a rival and Quebecor because they are told to shut up for now + the language barrier.

The "flight plan" to Qc city was supposed to take longer, but the plane's turbines lost most of their power. Emergency airport is Jean Lesage Intl.

Killion, you finally figured things out.Back in the 1st phase of NHL expansion Montreal and Toronto did not want any more expansion into Canada because they did not want to share television revenue.
They finally relented and thus the Canucks were born . The Canadiens were also responsible for slowing up the 1979 Merger/expansion of the Nordiques because of the same reason and and this started a boycott against the Molson Company.
From Wikipedia:
The Canadiens were owned by Molson Brewery. When the news got out that the Canadiens had voted against the deal, fans in Edmonton, Winnipeg, and Quebec City organized a boycott of Molson products, believing that Molson was standing in the way of their cities remaining big-league hockey towns.[9] The boycott quickly spread nationwide. It caused a drain on the Canucks' revenue as well, since Pacific Coliseum sold Molson products. The Canadian House of Commons weighed in as well, unanimously passing a motion urging the NHL to reconsider:
So my question is do you really think ( trust) the Canadiens want Nordiques 2 in there own back yard? Just food for thought~!!!!!!!!!!

That was 30 freaking years ago. Lot of water or in this case beer under the bridge and the NHL as bush league as they are now is run way more professionally than they were in the 80s let alone the late 70s. The main example is the Habs and the Leafs both run very badly in the last two decade of the century by Ballard and Molson breweries. God only know how many cups the habs did not win because Bowman was not promoted to DG in the late 70s. Instead they named Irvin Grundman an ex bowling alley manager with no hockey experience at all. Not to mention the whole Rejean Houle fiasco. And the fact that they built the New Forum with a sweetheart Tax deal with the city that was just a freaking handshake agreement. It took selling to Georges Gillett to get the habs to be run like a properly run business. Now it in the hands of another Molson but I think this one learned some hard lesson.

First one on the list is likely that they never had TV ratting like they did during the Habs Vs Nords battle for Quebec. The second one is that having another team in the province divided the media and took some of the heat off the Habs. The media treatment of the Canadiens became even more vicious in recent years and they sure can use a distraction. So business wise it really in the interest of the Montreal Canadiens to get their rival back.

Business wise, would mean The Canadiens would not want a team in Quebec City.Right now the QC radio and television market is the Canadiens.I am sure the Canadiens would not trade that market for the right to have a new team come in and encroach on there perceived territory just for the right to have a rival? Keep putting your spin on it.....Think Toronto/Hamilto and Toronto/Markham. And don't tell me that the whole Toronto thing is different than this. With the new division setup for next year Ottawa is 50km closer than QC.
