With the new division setup for next year Ottawa is 50km closer than QC.
So Vancouver are pure idiots if they are all for a team in Seattle.

Why would it be more idiot in MTL?

False MTL have all the market. Nothing is more false.

So would the Nordiques

In other news, we now know who would be the first scapegoat if the Coyotes move here. Smith @ 5.7

No they're not. Seattle/Vancouver would instantly become a top 5 rivalry in the NHL if Phoenix relocates there.

Yeah right, like people in Seattle must really care about the ice Hockey team in Vancouver. The eh, the eh... White caps I think.

Quebec / Montreal would instantly become the top 1 rivalry in the NHL but I guess you are right, some people at Bell thinks that it woudn't be good for them.

CKGM, radio in Quebec City pay's the Canadiens to broadcast there games? So it appears to me that the Canadiens have the radio market cornered!

Some clarification of his comments...

@HabsCoachK Owners are the NHL. Unless you mean NHL front office (Bettman, Daly et. al.) are pushing for Seattle while the Board wants QC?

Kosta Papoulias ‏@HabsCoachK 10h
@VinnyCama Exactly. It's Bettman vs. the owners.

Kosta Papoulias ‏@HabsCoachK 10h
Bettman is interested in maintaining his teams in the US. Owners want $$$ to comp for #Phoenix loses now. It's going to get interesting #NHL

Montreal Canadien games air on CJMF in Québec City, they would continu to air there even if the Nordique would return.

that still doesn't make any sense

Bettman doesn't have a vote, if the owners say "we're going to QC" then they go to QC

Going off memory here I am pretty sure Bettman said in the presser after the BOG meeting that the owners had given him authority to exercise "Plan B". If true, that would make this series of tweets BS.

Edit - ok, I went back and checked and I was wrong, he was discussing participation in the Olympics when he said the board had given him authority to make a decision.

So any NHL team can broadcast there games in the Quebec city market? I am sure PKP loves that idea!

If these Seattle vs QC pissing contests continue anywhere outside the designated thread, warnings will be issued. Go here:

Well yeah, you have to understand that at least maybe 30% of the city are stuck on the Canadiens. Go figure out, they think that they're good or something. PKP knows that he would need to allow it. Can you imagine TV blackout on RDS when the canadiens plays. There would be riots in the streets.

And I'm pretty sure you can listen to the Leafs in Ottawa.

It's a circular argument, nobody's being swayed by it. This thread is for you guys to discuss the goings on as they regard Quebec. The Seattle thread is for them to do likewise. If the twain should meet, it belongs in a central location and not in these threads.

I'm not the one who started talking Seattle in this particular thread.

I'm not pissing in Sea's thread, they should not come in our thread or make arguments in the proper thread.

All this *&?% for a league that doesnt take decisions like a man.

At this point IMHO, those are all sterile discussions leading to nothing, with respect.

Not on Sportsnet. Quebec is Ottawa territory and the Leafs broadcasts are blacked out

Both Molson brothesr are on the record many times in the past 6 months saying they cant wait to have quebec city back , that yes it would affect them but they feel the interest and passion from the rivalry will be good for them

Everyone said the same thing about Montreal and ottawa less than 90 minutes apart took 15+ years, a playoff series a dirty hit to start something just because 2 cities are close doesnt mean its a rivalry

If the media wants to create a rivalry they'll find a way. Ott/Mont is hardly a rivalry, most people won't remember gryba's hit or the playoff series by October.

Are you sure about Leafs games broadcast in the Ottawa market or are you guessing?
I am not quite certain that you can encroach on another teams market. If Quebec were to secure a new NHL team I am sure PKP would want all radio advertising revenue. I know of No NHL teams that share there radio market at this time except NY,and LA metro areas.
