I'm pretty certain that this is the case.

Do you mean, can Briere rejoin the Flyers late in the 2013-14 season?

Here’s what the new CBA forbids
This is where things get a little tricky (and a little disappointing, to the many Briere fans who have sent e-mails to CSNPhilly.com).

Players who are bought out by a team cannot have their contracts renegotiated by that team. So, as stated above, the Flyers would be prohibited from buying out Briere or any other player whose cap hit might be undesirable and then re-signing him to a lesser contract.

When a team buys out a player’s contract, that player is not permitted to re-join that club for the duration of the season that follows the summer during which he was bought out. That means that a player bought out by the Flyers in 2013 cannot play for the Flyers during the 2013-14 season, and a player bought out by the Flyers in 2014 cannot play for the Flyers for the duration of the 2014-15 season.

Darn. I love Briere in the playoffs. Regular season, not so much.

Anyone know of a radio station that I can listen to on "tunein" while I make this trip across Canada?

Edit: for the draft. Ha. Not just a music station. I'm tired.

How's that worked out?

The idea of going cheap on the third pairing is to allow cap flexibility to fit in a #1 defenseman (along with what G's going to get). It's also about getting value. Why have 7 million tied up in guys that play 15 minutes a game? And in the Playoffs your top pair plays roughly half the game, meaning the third pair is playing less than that. Think 2010 playoff run when Lucas Krajicek and Ryan Parent were the third pair getting limited minutes while Pronger-Carle-Timonen-Coburn did the heavy lifting.

Sources say the Coyotes are closing in on a 6 year deal with Mike Smith. Not done yet, but believed to be around $5.5 mil per year. #TSN

Good. That means we won't overpay for another product of Dave Tippett.

5.5 is a lot for a guy I wouldn't want suited up in a Flyer's outfit for any price.

any more said about the rumored LA-PHI deal?

Grossmann, pick + Cousins

for

Clifford + Martinez

I would be all over that even if it was Nolan or King.

Kimo -Coburn
Streit - Schenn
Martinez - Mez/Gus

Gagne - Coots - Clifford

Download the TSN app. They have the radio station for Toronto, Winnipeg, and Montreal. I'm almost positive it will be on those stations.

I wouldn't. I don't even really like the original deal but Clifford made it more tolerable.

That trade does not excite me much at all. I like Clifford a lot, but I like Grossmann too, and I don't think it is in any way worth it to lose Cousins to get size on the wings.

I don't really see a reason for this. Why not push for Grossmann for Clifford straight up? No need to lose Cousins in the process.

To be honest I don't think there's any merit to this anyway.

Dude help me out, what's the name of the app? For the life of me I can't find it, have only found it in the Canada App Store but it won't let me download it.

I would def do with Clifford assuming it's not 1st or 2nd rd pick. I think Martinez would be a real steady dman that could play in the top 4.

I like Grossman but they can improve while holding on to their #1 pick and Coburn I would be happy.

Rob Rossi from the Pittsburgh Tribune is reporting that the Flyers are interested in Kris Letang.

Shero said before meeting with Hughes that he already had received calls about Letang's availability. Montreal, San Jose and Philadelphia are interested, and the Penguins would prefer to deal with a club that can return a top prospect and at least two roster players who they would control for multiple seasons.

Montreal could outbid us and the Sharks.

I don't see Martinez as a top 4 defensemen.

Rossi is a bit of an idiot. He's like the Panotch of Pittsburgh writers. I was just posting it for some conversation. I don't seriously think we'll be in the running for Letang. We'll have to considerably overpay to pry him off of Pittsburgh.

I'm not really a fan of Letang. I think he's overrated.

Agreed. I don't think he'll ever earn the money he's going to get.

EDIT: @Real_ESPNLeBrun
More dialogue tonight between Kris Letang's camp and the Penguins. Both sides still trying to figure something out. We shall see...

And there's always the possibility he stays in Pittsburgh.

I still think they end up trading him. I just hope it's not for a 1st round pick in front of us. Really, I don't want them having a 1st rounder at all but they're going to get one if he's sent packing.
