Philadelphia-Ottawa

Flyers:
Craig Anderson
Cory Conacher
Matt Puempel

Sens:
Sean Couturier
Andrej Meszaros

Flyers get a proven goaltender at a nice cap, a cheap young LW who played with VL, a 1st round prospect LW, and move cap in dumping Meszaros. The Sens get a top 6 forward, and can use Meszaros for a year.

I'd have a hard time believing Ottawa would be willing to depend solely on Lehner.

I would prefer to trade Couts to the West. At least then he isn't shutting down Giroux. But value is there.

I'm no fan of the sens...but even I have to admit they're getting robbed here. At this point Turris is a good #2C so they don't really need him...and trading Anderson would mean they would have to put everything on Lehner which might not work out so well.

Have a harder time believing Meszaros is coming back to Ottawa, on an even more inflated salary.

Couturier isn't worth THAT much.

That deal is never going to happen. We would be giving up our starting goaltender. Lehner is nowhere near ready to take on the role of starting goaltender.

Oh god.

You know people have to re-watch a player when Flyers fans value their player less than other fans do.

This trade makes me want to puke.

Gross.

Exactly... Not yet atleast. Ottawa is getting rapped value wise.... Why on earth would they go after Meszaros? They already traded him once because they didn't want to pay him what he is making now, and they need right D men not left.

Plus it makes Philly better and they would have to beat Anderson if they were going to win.

Agreed on the first part.

But the second part is an over-exaggeration if I've ever seen one.

So you believe that lehner is ready for a starting position? He just became a backup last season.

I believe the bigger problem in trading Anderson would be the lack of depth Ottawa would have for goalies.

Saying Lehner is "nowhere near" being ready is ********, I'm sorry. Look at his stats.

Couturier isn't worth that much, and he's my favorite player.

Until lehner plays more games for us, he is not ready for a starting position. We still need anderson whether anyone likes it or not.

Yeah, his career high 12 games last season sure is hard to argue with. Time to trade Anderson and give Lehner the starter job...he's earned it boys!

Where are you getting this stuff? Where is ANYONE other than OP saying that the Senators don't need Anderson? I certainly didn't say it. I just said saying Lehner is "nowhere near" being ready is ridiculous, and I'm sure most Sens fans would agree with me.

Robin Lehner is a top 30 goalie in the NHL already. Anderson is higher than that.

I wouldn't trade Anderson alone for that, to be honest.

You're something else.

READ WHAT I SAID.

I said nothing towards the fact that Ottawa can just move Anderson. In fact, I said the complete opposite. But it's not because Lehner isn't good enough. His play in the past two years and the playoffs indicate that if Anderson ever got injured for a full year, Ottawa would need to find a backup for Lehner. They wouldn't be pressured in finding a replacement starter.

Meszaros has negative value currently. No one will take Him off the Flyers hands.

calling Couturier a "top 6 forward" at this point in his career seems like kind of a stretch...Ottawa gets robbed in this deal.
