I am so happy!

All kidding aside, I think this will help the defense become a little less approachable. Don't like the way some guys get to lundqvist.

Love this.
I suggested Ulf as the new HC,but I'm fine with him as an AC.

Really like this hire. Almost as much as AV.

Now if we can only get Ulf to pass on that great visor that he used to wear to Staal or Girardi...

Some quotes from Expressen:

-I will be resonsible for the defensemen and penalty kill.

-I have met Vigneault a few times during the last weeks and it feels right to be a part of his team. He gives the impression of being strong and sympathic.

When you start your new job?

- [Tomorrow], then we have a development camp next week for the young talents that Rangers draftat recent years.

But then I get a few weeks off in July before moving to New York in early August.

What did you learn during the two years as coach of Modo Hockey, which you may find useful now in the Rangers?

- I had an incredible period in Modo and if you want to develop the SEL is a good league. We worked a lot with puck possession in Modo and that is something that the Rangers want to get better at, so it's one of the things I take with me.

You will be responsible for the Ds and the club has Anton Strålman?

- Yes, I have already spoken to Anton and the management is very pleased with how he developed over the last few years. I'm really looking forward to working with him and the other Ds playing for the Rangers.

I'm very happy about this. The rumor mill made it seem like it was a fore gone conculsion that Ulf would get the job, but once Sather said that Av would get to pick his coaching staff I wasn't so sure.

Works for me. I hated him when he was with the Penguins. And we paid too high a price moving Zubov to get him but as a Ranger he was a trip. Loved how he used to push the back of an opponents helmet up so that the front would come down over their eyes. He wasn't a fun guy to play against but he could be a lot of laughs if he was on your team.

So, I suppose we now wait on a 2nd assistance coach..

Fingers crossed... I have to say, the ONLY thing I am not happy about after today is that we still have Big Bad Bradley on our ****ing roster

Didnt like his style as a player, Matt Cooke of the 90s. But maybe he is a good coach.

Samuelsson is an experienced coach. One year as an assistant coach with the Pack. Five years as an associate coach with PHX. Three years with Gretzky and two years with Tippett. Two years at Modo. TGO was a teammate in New York. Tippett was a teammate with the Whalers. He will handle the D and PK.

Newell Brown looks like he will be joining AV with the Rangers. Brown will run the PP.

Meanwhile, Newell Brown, an assistant of Vigneault’s the past three seasons in Vancouver, has emerged as the favorite to coach the Rangers’ power play, The News has learned.

Get your right-handed shots ready. When AV was hired,he was asked about the right-handed shots on the PP. He said even having one right-handed shot can change the PP. At some points in VAN,all of the shots were lefties. The Rangers have 2 righties in Stepan and Callahan. Stralman from the point.

Arniel was also mentioned. He is up for an assistants job with VAN. Mike Sullivan was going to meet with Mike Gillis at the draft regarding joining Torts in VAN. Larry Brooks reported yesterday that the Rangers players got sick of Sullivan.

At least we know who we can ***** about when the PK gives up a goal and the blueline has a defensive lapse.

My first reaction is, ugh, just because he was one of the biggest pieces of **** I've ever seen on the ice. But you guys in the know, seem to indicate he's good at coaching, so I'll give him a chance and hope you're right.

Scott Arniel to the Rangers?

Hearing Scot Arniel will end up in NY with the Rangers.

Brown and Samuelsson on the bench. Arniel in the press box. That could work.

Is Brown confirmed?

If so, im liking this staff. Strong and diverse with defined roles for each.

Maybe more importantly is each will have the correct amount of time to execute those roles. Wasn't a big fan of Torts' two-man system.

huge change from the days of only needing 1 assistant coach cause we don't teach anything lol

what was his reputation as an assistant? and hopefully he came highly recommended by our columbus crew that played under him
