Rick Springhetti of Mckeen hockey is on 98.5.
He said that McCarron has progressed a lot (extraordinary) in the second half of the season.
He was not fast enough to be able to hit opponents but with better skating now he is better at hitting.

According to him, we should expect Macaque to progress a lot in the next year.
This pick is high risk/high reward kind of pick.
Progression will tell us everything.

Knights have given three conditional second rounds for him:
Quote:
Knights sent a guaranteed 5th round pick (2015) to the Belleville Bulls for his rights.
Also involved in the trade at Miss's 2nd rd ('15), 2nd rd '17 and 2nd rd '18 all conditional on him reporting.
Note that the trade was made in June of 2012 so each year he did not report a pick fell off.
So it appears that it will cost us in total the 5th, 2nd rd '17 and 2nd rd '18
Also being in USDP should give us hope.

I wasn't very happy at first, but now I think this could go well.

At that size, at worse, he will be a 3th line forward.

Would like him to play with London thought

Was going to Western Michigan or London an hour ago.

Now it seems he is going to London.

I absolutely LOVE this pick...as peoples here know, I've been rambling on about how much I liked McCarron for awhile now...I know alot of people don't like him gone in the 1st, but it's worth it to make sure no one grabbed him...

25th overall is when you take risks like this. Its not like he was picked in the top 5 or something

He bring something that is lacking in the prospect pool.

I'm not going to pretend like I'm an NHL level scout, but wouldn't it be cool if this guy turns out to be our own Milan Lucic, or a modern age John Fergusson Sr.

Wasn't expecting this. If it works out though he'll be exactly what we need. Cross your fingers and hope for the best. I thought we'd get Zykov with this one and its a surprise but there's no denying the guy has size and plays with an edge. At 26 overall you're lucky to get an NHL player so even if he just makes the roster as a grinder that will help.

Oh well. Obviously, there are a lot of weak aspects to him. He wasn't ranked early 2nd round for nothing..

But if Timmins picked him, it's most likely because he believed the young man hadn't reached his upside yet. His release can be sped up. His agility can improve. His acceleration can be worked on.

If he has the heart to work on it hard, and with determination.

I'll give you release, but he's more than above average, for his size/age, on skating.

Team building!

This is how we build a competing team... diversity in roles. McCarron is an essential in the currant NHL and the structure of our team begs for this style of player. We now have A TRUE POWER FORWARD, in the making.

this is a high risk high reward pick. but when you're picking #25, you can take that risk.

Don't count this guy out. He's already got a big body, who at 18 years old is 6'6" 237lbs? He's still growing.

At best he can be Milan Lucic, at worst he'll be Mike Blunden. The new league is more power and speed.

Not a fan of this pick - thinking he's gonna be our Hugh Jessiman.

Really hope I'm wrong

Did you hear his short interview on RDS? He pretty much said ''I have grit, I love to fight and I play in front of the net''. Hopefully this is true, he looks like a tank.

I've read he has that "you touch the puck and I kill you" mentality.

The more I ask around about this kid the more it reminds me of what I used to hear about Missiaen in 2008 (obviously a massively different scenario), The big difference for this kid will be the Habs will to invest in his development. Feels like the kind of pick where your prospect management team ( Brisebois, Lapointe etc ... ) really need to be on the ball.
