Fair value. I guess this means Grabovski is bumped up to a scoring line.

WE got a 2014 4th in the Lupul/Gardiner trade. The gift that keeps on giving!

He had a back issue all year and with the compressed schedule, he never had a chance to be fully healthy this year.

You guys should see the old Bolland next year, you got a truly special and entertaining player whose game is custom built for the playoffs.

I hate to see Bolland go but this frees up the cap space to sign Bickell so I was rsigned to this move having to be made.

Goodluck to The The Rat in Toronto, you guys are going to love him up there.

Bernier when we've got Reimer; Bolland when we've got Bozak, Colborne, and Grabovski? That's a lot of redundancy. Nonis's trades haven't been very smart so far.

Bozak isn't a leaf and Joe Colborne and Mikhail Grabovski combined for 9 goals 7 assists and 16 points last year and 2 assists in the playoffs. Albeit Grabo was playing in a defensive role... in which Bolland will be playing now. Colborne can go learn to play wing

If he can stay healthy, the Leafs just got themselves a very good 3rd line C.

Considering his injuries and contract status, they should still target Weiss.

Buy out Komi/Liles if you have to.

Hard to hate this as a Leaf fan. We needed a third line center that could play tough minutes. He's got 2 cup rings and adds a lot of experience.

This puts McClement into more of a 4th line center / 3rd line winger spot, which is perfect. His minutes will be mostly PK minutes.

Solid move for a 51st and 117th pick really and 2014 4th rounder.

Now if they could miraculously swap Grabovski and sign Lecavalier, the center position entering the season is looking great.

Bernier- upgrade over Reimer at a cheap price with a high ceiling.

Bolland to be our #3C. Bozak is out of here. Grabo can move back into the top 6 or be used as a winger. Colborne was ready for promotion but Bolland is a clear upgrade.

This is a win win

Chicago probably wanted a little more return but which team doesn't.

Also it's classy to send the guy back to his hometown even if its wasn't intentional

Thank you so much bolland for all the memories against Vancouver and obviously the cup winning goal.

I know the Leafs picked up a 4th from Edmonton for Mike Brown. I'm guessing that's the pick.

I think Chicago could have got more. Not much more, but happy to see Bolland go to Toronto. He deserves to be in a great city. Chicago will miss him.

Bolland was 4th line C at end ,, He makes 3.3M+ and is a year away from UFA coming off bad year and has very long injury history

Hawks got fair value and open cap room to sign Bickell

Bolland wasn't fit at #2C and Shaw/Kruger + Prospects in pipeline make him expendable

This is a great trade for Toronto.

They'll get to put Bolland in a third C, defensive focused role where he will not need to provide much offense (Leafs have enough of that from other sources). Bolland can do that, although asking him to play as a 2nd line C would have been too much.

It also allows them to return some freedom to Grabovski, who played well in a defensive role but would thrive with offensive opportunity he has still somehow not received alongside Kessel.

JVR-Grabovski-Kessel
Lupul-Kadri-Clarkson (?)
McClement-Bolland-Kulemin

That looks like two top flight offensive lines and a very high quality shutdown third line.

Makes sense for Chicago as well, due to cap issues, having Shaw, etc.

Bozak is all but gone with his 5m/year demands. Colborne is likely not going to amount to anything and it doesn't hurt to trade for someone clearly better. Grabovski can now play less of a defensive role if he's kept. Trading for Bernier doesn't hurt us. One of Remier or Bernier is going to succeed, maybe both. These trades just bolster our team. I don't see how you have a problem with this. Do you see teams like Chicago, Boston, Pittsburgh etc ever not trading for redundancy? Look at boston's bottom 6, if Boston had you're frame of mind then they wouldn't have that center depth that they have.

Also think of it as insurance. If the better player we trade for such as Bolland get hurt, we have Colborne who can fill in for him. It seems you want a 1 player per position team, where if some1 gets hurt the team is ****.

Great to hear. Love Bolland addressees a need for a number 3 center infront of McClement. His most important asset is the 2 cup rings that are coming with him.

He's upgrading the team; that is the point of trading.

The Leafs were thin with just Reimer; Bernier is an upgrade over him. Reimer is a massive upgrade over Scrivens in that second slot.

Bolland is an upgrade over Grabo; who disappears for large stretches and is not responsible enough to be in the 3rd or 4th line. Bozak is gone; the Leafs would not give 5+ Million to a guy Kessel has always carried.

Colborne may never make the NHL.

This is a great move.

Not all pieces fall into place at once.

I like this move. It solidifies the center ice position a little more, but Nonis will most definitely still be looking for further upgrades.

Certainly could've used a player like Bolland during the game 7 meltdown.
