Seems like a guy in the mold of Hjalmarsson/Dahlbeck

A solid defensive player with a good understanding of the game and impressive positioning. Dahlström has great size and reach, which he uses to his advantage although not being an overly physical player. Handles the puck well and is a capable passer.

not sure about it but it looks like he has a good chance to reach his ceiling. His ceiling just isn't as high as others like Boweys

A Dahlstrom has won the Calder trophy as a Blackhawk before...

At least from what I've heard, sounds like we landed him a bit lower than most would expect, so can't complain about that.

Hopefully he turns out to be a mild steal.

I agree especially with Bowey still on the board.

You know what you get when you take safe picks the whole draft? Dale Tallon.

How was drafting Akim Aliu and Kyle Beach considered safe picks when it was well known both players had character issues?

2006 2nd Round 33rd Overall - Igor Makarov. When was the last time the Chicago Blackhawks drafted a Russian worth a damn?

I don't know about that. I think Seth Jones would have been the safe pick yesterday. Though I think Barkov will end up being the man from this draft and he will make Dale look good.

Safe wasn't really the right word, but "consensus BPA"

How is the European Dahlstrom considered "consensus BPA" when the North American Bowey was still on the board?

That's my point. You don't want to take consensus BPAs the whole draft because you'll rarely get a breakout player.

Carl Dahlstrom has already suffered a concussion.
